1. Action and strategy... in spaaaace!
It is indeed a hybrid of those two genres, and similar in concept to an earlier game from the same developers, Archon, except in space.
2. That ship looks familiar...
The Earthling Cruiser looks a lot like the Enterprise.
3. Many classic sci-fi characters appear in this game

Each ship is identified by a captain's name pulled from a list for each race. The Earthling captains are Kirk, Solo, Adama, and others along those lines.
5. Lives are life
The health of a ship is measured in crew members; they die as it takes damage, and it's destroyed when they're all gone.
6. All the ships in the game belong to a hierarchy, but only some of them belong to the Hierarchy
Each ship has a unique price that's supposed to be appropriate to its overall power, and they can be ranked accordingly. Also, one of the factions is the Hierarchy.

Toriel has created a duplicate of the child's house. You discover the original near the end of the game.
2. Water flowing underground
The game takes place underground, and there's plenty of water flowing around.
3. And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"
It's easy to kill off many of the game's lovable characters, sometimes by accident, and the game likes to make you feel like a monster if you do.
I had originally wanted to use clues from a bunch of different songs, but then I realized that like half of this song would make a good clue for Undertale.
