Mutazione

There we are.

1) This place is not as cute and frolicky as it first appears.
The island of Mutazione seems like a goofy place at first, but deep, dark secrets abound.

2) The music will open your way.
Arranging plants to play the right music for the right seal is your means of progression.

3) Sometimes you just really need your mom.
Kai initially sets out to Mutazione to prove her independence, but in the end she ends up needing her mom's help.

4) It's nice to just be able to work in your garden. Or someone else's even.
Tending gardens is part of progression, including some that belong to other residents.

5) You'll be aided in your journey of self-discovery by a cat woman and a giant sentient... Jell-O?
Miu and Jell-A

6) It's a fairly recent release.
Last year even.

7) The rare game where the protagonist is a woman and a POC.
8) Boy, that game's name sure sounds Italian, doesn't it?

It's even in the name.

The "health bar" of the game are sections of the main mushroom, Pax's, head. To block he just puts his head in front of whatever attack. It seems to work,

3. Clever, my enemies are poisonous
Pax is a Bolete and the friendly mushroom tribes are Morels, both generally recognized as culinary mushrooms. The main antagonists of the game are Amanitas and Lepiotras, a lot of which are poisonous without some treatment

4. I strongly suspect humans would notice this in reality, but ill trust the game
The story behind the game is something like a mist appears on the earth that affects basically everything except humans, and humans are none the wiser. This also includes things like mutant rabbits.

5. Is that Primus?
Les Claypool of Primus performs the soundtrack. Some of the tracks appear on his solo album, Of Fungi and Foe

6. The PC does seem like a fun guy, but the antagonist is too.
fungi pun. I was going to save this for a little later but I don't think many people here played the game and I was running out of clues that would provide any meaningful help lol
