Correct! I was thinking about NH in particular, but yeah.Animal Crossing... hopefully not needing to specify because they're all the same.
Mostly everybody else is an animal.1) Where are all the other humans?
There are some exceptions to the first answer, but most of the time, you're the only human - the NPCs are anthropomorphic animals (weirdly, there are "real" animals in the game too, such as birds, reptiles, and fish)2) Well, you might have a co-op buddy along - and the internet is filled with other human players, too. But human NPCs? Nope.
All of the animal friends on your island / village are friendly enough, at least if you get to know them.3) Despite this, there's no lack of friendly company
The game follows the console's clock. Several kids with whom I've played the game have expected to be able to go to sleep to get to the next day (and renewed resources), but you can't do that. You need to wait until the next morning in real life to get to the next morning in the game.4) What do you mean you can't just go to sleep in your bed and wake up next morning?
Once kids understand that a) the game follows the real-life clock (and seasons) and b) has weather effects like rain and snow, usually the question they have is whether the weather patterns in the game reflect the weather outside your house. Sadly, this is not the case.5) If it rains in real life, does it rain in the game too?
That could be an interesting update - now that all consoles have networking, tell the game your nearest city and let it look up local weather and match it - though it would also create new problems, like if you physically live in a desert environment the game would have to give you some option to change the weather so you're not near-permanently locked out of getting things that show up in rain or whatever.Once kids understand that a) the game follows the real-life clock (and seasons) and b) has weather effects like rain and snow, usually the question they have is whether the weather patterns in the game reflect the weather outside your house. Sadly, this is not the case.
1) The game was released in 1995 and was set in 2005.1) Set 10 years in the future, which is actually 16 years in the past.
2) Prizes include $1,000,000, immortality and a paper bag.
3) I guess they are considered Christmas presents.
4) Or maybe... Antichristmas presents?
