Yeah, having just one line for games I didn't recognize didn't give me anything to go off of really. And since you weren't aiming to deliver the quotes in the exact same intonation as the games there wasn't much to discuss there.

I had fun, but even trying to think of things to say now I guess I can't? It's really not one that lends well to discussion so I wouldn't take it personally, but I get it.
 
If it helps, I'd have liked more focus on the entries themselves. I usually enjoy the write-ups at least as much as discovering what the items will be.

There's not necessarily a ton to write about quotes, but the context would've been good.

For Mogri's point, I had decided early on to put the time investment into the video production side and to keep the writing light and silly, but in hindsight the write-ups do serve as a core of most of our popularity contests. Hm. Food for thought, haha.
 
My List:

1. “Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded.” Chairman Sheng-ji Yang, “Dynamics of Mind” Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri
- I wanted to include a quote from my favorite video game series, but felt it wouldn't be right to quote the Civ games quoting from real life, so I picked a quote from SMAC because those are all made up.
2. “YOU CAN’T CUT BACK ON FUNDING!! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!” - Transportation Advisor, SimCity 2000
- I'm really happy this one matched up with someone
3. “I’ve got a lot on my mind. And, well, in it.” - Tav, Baldur's Gate 3
4. “Come over here and give Weiss a big sloppy kiss, Shadowlord! Now pull your head out of your goddamn ass and START FUCKING HELPING US!” - Kaine, Nier
5. “Do you know who I am? I’m the man that’s going to burn your house down - with lemons!” - Cave Johnson, Portal 2
- I saw we had a few different quotes from Portal 2, but missed matching them up.
6. “Don’t blame us. Blame yourself or God.” - Knight, Final Fantasy Tactics
- Glad to see this one got the top spot
7. “Definition: ‘Love’ is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope… Love is knowing your target, putting them in your target reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds.” - HK-47, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
8. “You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.” - Sovereign, Mass Effect
- I almost picked a different line from this speach, and I'm glad I didn't since this is the bit that matched.
9. “I like the sight of humans on their knees. That was a joke.” - EDI, Mass Effect 2
- This quote made me laugh when I played this part of the game.
10. “If we should get separated, just whistle. I’ll come running” - Yuna, Final Fantasy 10
- I could have filled my whole list with FF quotes, but decided to pick just one. I love FF10. I love how Yuna says this to Tidus and not the other way around.
11. “The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes.” - Narrator, Kingdom Hearts
- KH is one of my favorites so i wanted to include something from it.
12. “You have died of dysentery.” - Narrator, The Oregon Trail
- I am so old. LOL
13. “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.” Altair, Assassin’s Creed
- I saw we had a quote from AC2, so I feel like that was kinda close.
14. “The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Mister Freeman.” - G-man, Half-Life 2
- i really wanted to include the next bit of this quote, but 2 sentances, so I had to cut off the next bit.
15. “A man chooses. A slave obeys.” - Andrew Ryan, Bioshock
- we all danced around the same part of Bioshock but didn't quite match up.
16. “Can’t let you do that, Star Fox.” - Star Wolf, StarFox 64
- I think its funny we had a list of almost all SF64 quotes and I didn't match with any of them. I'm proud of us for not picking "Do a barrel roll" though.
17. “War. War never changes.” - Narrator, Fallout
18. “War has changed.” - Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- I put these two next to each other on purpose.
19. "I invited your best friend, the Companion Cube. Of course, he couldn't come, because you murdered him." - Glados, Portal.
- We danced around quotes related to the CC, but didn't quite match
20. “Thank you, Mario! But our princess is in another castle.” - Toad, Super Mario Bros
21. “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.” - old man in cave, The Legend of Zelda
22. “Praise the Sun.” - Solaire, Dark Souls
23. “What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets.” - Dracula, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
24. “Its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of bubble gum” - Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem 3d
25. "Go for the eyes, Boo. Go for the eyes!" - Minsc, Baldur's Gate
- a few on the bottom of the list were just classic quotes that I thought might have a good chance of matching

From a format perpsective, I was looking forward to everyone sharing the full list because I knew that we probably would have instances of where people picked the same game, but different bits of text from it, so it doesn't make the list despite the quotes being really close to each other. I think it made it really fun when some of my quotes did match up.

I think this is a case where it might have helped to team up with someone and having them handle the write-ups.
 
Possibly. Writing background on the quotes wasn't really in the nature of what I had planned for this particular contest, but I'm noting its importance for whenever I feel like doing another.
