The Pop Ephemera Thread - Randomly Accessed Memory

Summon for hire

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the show, but I feel like I do have some vague memory of that particular off-model Koopa head design. Maybe I’ve seen it in still pictures somewhere?

the room is full of ghosts
I was going to say something about the Mario Ice Capades because Koopa wears a bow tie in that but that Koopa is somehow even worse.

Here's a video that requires some explanation for non-Swedes: I'm sure you've heard of Swedish music producer Max Martin, who has worked with many international music stars, including Britney Spears. As many Swedes of a certain generation, he was a big fan of 90s Swedish comedy group "Killingänget". So, for Max's birthday in the year 2000, one of the actors from the group, Johan Rheborg, teamed up with Britney to create the following humorous video. Rheborg is playing a variant of one of his most famous characters, the tremendous asshole businessman Percy Nilegård (here called "Max Nilegård" instead), while Britney is playing herself. Rheborg is alternating between English and Swedish, and while there are some subtitles, they are far from perfect, missing many of the humorous and dickheaded things he's saying in Swedish. And I'm not sure how understandable his English is, to be honest. Still, I think the general idea should get through, with the whole thing basically revolving around Nilegård being a self-satisfied dickhead music producer acting like a huge jerk towards Britney, even going so far as to bascially gaslight her at the end. I'm not sure how much Britney understood about what was going on, but I'd say she does pretty well for herself considering who's she dealing with. It was probably all done in good fun at the time, though with Britney's later history it might take on a slightly unpleasant tone nowadays.

In any case, I can assure you that for a Swede it's pretty mindblowing to watch international superstar Britney Spears, at the top of her early 2000s celebrity, being in a sketch with a beloved and oft-quoted Swedish comedian.
