Did you update the firmware? Apparently they improved the controller compatibility. I'm waiting on an SD card to show up to try it, though. It keeps disconnecting from my SNES joycon :(

I bought an 8bitdo controller a few months ago but kind of hated it and returned it. I'll be miffed if those are the only controllers that work.

I'm loving the device itself, though. The pixel filter is something else.

A friend pre-ordered it for me as a birthday present last October, and it showed up on Friday.

I'm using the latest firmware for both the system and the dock. The PS4 controller works while tethered, but won't sync.

I need to buy a good case for it because I'm terrified to take it outside. This thing is quite a cash sink.

I realized just now that since Christmas I've played maybe an hour of the new Metroid game I've been wanting to play since last year but I'm already halfway through one of the least-beloved Zeldae*. I think I'm coming around on this Analogue Pocket thing.

I ordered the controller, and I'm starting to have a really good time with the Pocket besides. I think I just needed some time to warm up to it. The battery life is bananas and the sleep/wake function is a godsend.

I want to replay Minish Cap, and am deliberately saving it to play in the sunlight in warmer weather on original hardware.

(The coda to "Can I put a non-backlit screen onto a modern handheld?" is I ended up putting a rechargeable battery pack mod into my original GBA, and I bought a flash cart for it. So now I'll have a good beach handheld.)

I've thought of doing something similar for Boktai on the balcony this summer.

Semi-related: it's really funny to me that the Pocket has a screen mode to replicate the AGB-001, just in case you want it to look like shit.

So I got the 8bitdo SN30 GP, in yellow, chosen because it's
1) Bluetooth
2) not bogged covered with unnecessary sticks and triggers
3) cute ♥
and so far it's alright. I only spent a few minutes with it but it was a pain in the ass to get it to sync (had to update the firmware on the controller) and my TV really didn't like that a GBA picture isn't quite a perfect 16:9 aspect ratio, but the big thing right now is that the Select + Down menu shortcut that's supposed to work with 8bitdo controllers without a Heart button doesn't work at all. I sent them a message about it, but I'm trying to keep my expectations low. The GP, a weird one-time offshoot of the SN30, isn't noted as being supported in any documentation; and if it's not properly supported now then I'm not hopeful it ever will be,

My SNES Joycon seems to be behaving after updating firmware on the Pocket and Dock, though I haven't tested it extensively. I don't think it has a way to go to the menu?

@Tegan Wow, that's useless! I know that for some 8bitdo controllers, you can change the "type" of controller it's supposed to be with a button combination when you go to sync it, but I don't know if that applies to the SN30 GP as I have no experience with it. I know that for some stuff I've done in the past (several of those mini consoles, for example), I had to change the controller "type" to Switch or Windows or Xbox to get it to work, including button combinations. Dunno if that'd help with the Pocket, though.

I got it to work! I had to change it to Switch mode even though the manual says to use Direct-X mode.

I'm actually really liking the SN30. I wish it had a home button, but otherwise it feels really good and now that I've got it set up, I can even use it to wake up the Pocket (the dock doesn't have HDMI CEC though, so it won't switch inputs, which is a bummer). I've tried it for a bit of Yoshi's Island and quite a bit of Yggdra Union, but I think I'll put it through its paces with something more action-oriented soon.

I understand they've basically abandoned it now, but I wish it were easier to track the GPs down; I want all the colours.

Okay, question for the folks who know their stuff: Does anyone know a reputable person or business who can replace GBC cartridge batteries for those of us who can't do it ourselves? (NYC area or mail-away would be ideal, in this case.)

I don't know who needs to hear this but they're making a glow in the dark Analogue Pocket. I actually think the Pocket is a pretty lousy excuse for a Game Boy, but if you want one with the ability to glow for eight hours with no way to turn that off, then I have a product for you. They also have all the accessories back in stock, except of course for the three adapter set that's still in pre-order after five years (shipping real soon though! For real this time! Promise!).

Also, I pre-ordered Crunchyroll's GBC Zelda clone back in November and it finally shipped this week. I forgot I wanted this.
