Banjo Kazooie can’t be cheap. I’m sure they’re angling to get Goldeneye on there as well.
That would probably be $29 of the $30 increase. =P

Seriously, though, last I heard, the owners of Bond want nothing to do with that game getting re-released, and they're the biggest stumbling block.

Anyway, call me when Diddy Kong Racing has been added.

The current lineup of Nintendo 64 games isn't really there to convince me yet- of the games at launch, the only one I'd want to play is Star Fox 64. I already replayed Mario 64 from the Mario 3D collection, OoT is a game I love but have also played many, many times and don't really need to play again, I played S&P on Virtual Console once and that was enough, I might try Mario Kart 64 but feel like I'd be done with that quickly, the Mario spin-offs don't interest me, and Yoshi's Story never grabbed me when I rented it over 20 years ago. I am interested in Winback, since I enjoyed that game a lot back then, but I also fear that 3rd person shooters have simply moved so much since then that I may not be able to tolerate how archaic it may feel by today's standards.

I will definitely check pick it up once Majora's Mask comes out- I played the 3D remake of it but that was when I kind of started being unable to tolerate playing handheld systems for reasons I can't understand, and I kind of left it unfinished. Also I may check out Banjo-Kazooie, as I am curious how that holds up to my lofty memories of it.

Shamefully, this would probably do it for me re: spending double the money for half the benefit.

There's nothing in the initial batch that makes me want to offer up my credit card again but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. (Banjo-Kazooie comes close but I have Xbox GamePass for those.)

I’m thinking of it less like $70 for the premium service and more like an additional $25 for two more consoles.

And really, just for.. like… four games

I’ve made worse financial decisions

Rare stuff would be tempting but I really don't see it going beyond the Banjo-Kazooie games, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and maybe Blast Corps.

Goldeneye involves dealing with the house of Bond, Perfect Dark and Conker are both M-rated, and in Jet Force Gemini's case I've no doubt the ESRB would be far less cool with the prospects of exploding defenseless innocent koala villagers to little pieces under that T rating now than they were back in 1999.

Unless
They re-release Goldeneye and remove any and all mention of James Bond; like how Startropics doesn’t have any Yo-yo or Tetris branding anymore

I'd be happier with a TimeSplitters trilogy, and they wouldn't have to wrestle with MGM (Amazon?) and the estate of Ian Fleming for the rights. Weren't we supposed to get something like this? I thought T*HQ bought the rights or something.

Stocks... Jim Stocks.
Garland. Jack Garland.

I'd love to see Goldeneye somehow make it onto that, but I know it's not happening.

I'm still undecided on it. The Banjo games do sweeten the pot a bit, but I'm waiting for just a bit more. If Konami comes on board with the Goemon games or if Treasure gives us Mischief Makers (with a control scheme that works well without needing the N64 controller replica) then I'll probably take the plunge.

N64 is a little more exciting to me in that most of my emulationy stuff does a pretty terrible job of it. I might be more demanding than some but I remember being told the Wii could do it, and no it bloody can't. Not outside of the stuff Nintendo did. Actual decent emulation of a wide range of games would hit the spot.

For what it's worth, F-Zero X also has my attention. I've never played it, and it's an F-Zero game that's not the Super NES one.

And hey, maybe with any luck, numbers on that will finally sway Nintendo to quit ignoring it and that "inspiration" they're looking for will strike.

And yeah, I have Rare Replay, so I'm good for most of Rare's stuff that doesn't involve gorillas collecting bananas.

Woof, I should’ve just waited until I had an N64 Joycon before taking the plunge on the Expansion Pack. My brain cannot handle the button mapping they use. Especially egregious is Star Fox 64 using ZL to rotate left but R to rotate right.

Sin and Punishment is a nightmare to control, though that game was always hard to control. They at least change up the button mapping to fit that game better.

Yeah the N64 controller mapping is just… unforgivably bizarre.

At least the Genesis emulation is solid and that’s what I was more invested in.

No, N64 has no rewind. Really soured on this. Not being able to re-map controls in 2021 is absolutely inexcusable, both from an accessibility standpoint and a "What the fuck are you even doing?!?!" viewpoint. Just absolute crap designed to make you buy a 40 dollar controller.

Not to mention this emulation still doesn't account for controller packs. Feels like walking in a time warp to early 2000s N64 emulators

Welp, glad I held off on this. Gonna continue to wait and see if they improve the controller issues, or add the Goemon games or something.

Man fuck Nintendo and their attempt to wring double the price for their shitty online.

No doubt that Nintendo 64 Online was rushed out the door so Nintendo could have their new costlier Switch Online plan option ready for the holiday season.

The face button mapping makes sense in stuff like Star Fox 64 where down C and left C are used as regular buttons. Though of course they have the buttons rotated from the original orientation because A must be A, darn it!
