Apparently a FCC filing for what people are suspecting is a Switch controller of some kind is going non-confidential Friday, so we may be seeing… something peripheral related… at the Direct.

People are expecting a drift-proof joycon, or an N64 replica. And people would be delighted by that.

But this is Nintendo, so it’s going to be a replica of the Colecovision Super Controller or they’re finally making good on the promise of the Vitality Sensor

It'll end up being a Labo thingie you just put at the end of a toilet paper cardboard tube and then you can pretend it's an arm cannon and shoot stuff in Metroid.

.....
... That'd actually be kinda cool.

Regardless of what they announce, get ready for massive disappointment. :p

(Surprise me, Nintendo. Surprise me.)

I partly jest. I acknowledge that they do sometimes drop cool stuff I like, but I (like many here) aren't squarely in their target demographic anymore. I mean, how many people even remember StarTropics? (I, too, would love that and many other things mentioned here!)

Also, yeah, I'd take anything they put on NSO - N64 or Game Boy would rock.

It occurred to me some time ago that my tastes have largely moved on to other things and that my love of Nintendo is rooted in nostalgia more than practice. Outside of the big name first-party titles - your Marios, your Zeldas, your Metroids, etc. - my Switch is a dust collector. It's like dutifully buying albums over the years from a band you loved as a teenager only to realize that, while you appreciate them still, the music really hasn't been "yours" for a very long time. I've made my peace with it.

And the StarTropics torch shall never fall.

See I'm the opposite. The Switch rivals the SNES and 3DS as my most-used console. I love it.

More Animal Crossing stuff please, especially the 24 hour store.

The Nintendo Switch is the greatest video game console of all time.

Also a couple more variations in the store stock and buyable bait would be nice. I visited other islands back when people here were more regularly playing, but now I usually find myself watching the skies 'cuz I'm more likely to find something I don't have in a random balloon than with Redd's load of all of two furniture items or Wisp's "How about a wallpaper or flooring this time" self.

As for other stuff I'd love to see...well, here's a few things.

Mild: The option to buy a 10-pack of Nook Miles Tickets.

Medium: More camera options. Aperture, focus, rotation, new filters and frames, that sort of thing.

Hot: More returning old villagers. I would love for the pirate pig or the Squirrel Sisters to return. Also more brand new villagers. There's room to expand, we still don't have a peppy deer or a sisterly hamster yet and octopi are underrepresented. Hell, get some lionesses in there so lions aren't exclusively a boy's club.

Spicy: More interactability with objects in general would be nice...but I'd settle for just being able to ride the kick scooter or mountain bike.

Extra Spicy: I understand if this is too much for the current game engine to handle, but...Allow the player to break off the grid. Real-life objects don't work like 90° squares and rectangles, and especially with a photo mode I would love to have far more control over object placement.

I want to tip the garden gnome over. I want to put more than four glasses of sparkling cider on a single table. I want each individual chair to be off-center in one way or another.

I'm expecting more info on botw2. 2022 is only 3 months away, and we're now several months of SSHD in the rearview mirror. Now is a decent time for some substantial info on BotW2 if it's gonna come out in Q1 or 2 of next year.

Or if it's getting pushed back again, I expect to see more placeholder Zelda ports to tide us over like a Wind Waker and/or Twilight Princess Switch port.

Phantoon

I cuss you bad
It says it (mostly) is going to cover titles coming out this winter, so I wouldn't count on that. Castlevania Advance Collection will probably be there.

My biggest concern is that they’re going to cover Dread for a big chunk of it, and I’m trying to avoid knowing anything about that game before it’s released.

Real talk, I would not be surprised to see a notable new addition to NSO, but whether that's Game Boy or N64 is anyone's guess.

If the rumors about a premium tier for N64 turns out to be true I'm not sure how I'd feel. It would depend on what was available, because I already have Mario 64 from 3D All Stars. So unless there's a shocker like the Goemon games or the Rare catalogue or Mischief Makers or something I'll probably hold off.

Give us Tactics Ogre 64 or we riot.

You know, I always go into a Nintendo Direct Announcement all like "yes, I will accept any bounty that is given to me, this is a joy onto itself", and then someone says something amazing like "Maybe Mischief Makers or Tactics Ogre 64", and then I start fixating on that, and then I'm disappointed when it inevitably doesn't happen. I need to maintain my Zen for these Directs, and the suggestion of a Star Tropics returning... distracting.

Anyway, give me Kid Icarus or give me death.

Rumor is we're getting Death in Castlevania: Dracula X - would that suffice?
