Cant link on a phone, but apparently Ni No Kuni 2 has been leaked for Switch.

I didn’t play that originally, but I’m lead to understand it was much better received than the original game, which was a bit of a slog despite being one of the nicest looking games in the genre

Can confirm. Ni no Kuni bored me to tears but I really enjoyed the sequel. I don't think they have anything to do with each other, plot-wise.

Did Miitopia 3DS use Access Keys like the Switch version does to share Mii’s? Perhaps you could use the respective demos to upload your Miis and transfer them that way.

I'm almost 100% certain the bizarre mii transfer system is done specifically to avoid opening up additional memory leak security holes from hacked 3DS or WiiUs. Given that the Switch had severe vulnerabilities at launch that were completely unrelated, it feels like putting a padlock on a cardboard box, but I won't outright call it a bad idea to have that system in place.

I do not remember this at all. I could start up my 3DS and see though!

And glad I'm not missing something obvious.

The next wave of SNESflix titles have been announced;

Joe & Mac, Spankys Quest, Magical Drop 2 and Baseball Simulator 1000 for the SNES, and Ninja JaJaMaru Kun for the NES

Spankys Quest is legitimately good. People who like Donkey Kong 94 would probably enjoy it although it doesn't have quite the same moveset.

If they ever do an Oracle remake, they're gonna lock the extra buttons behind an amiibo, too, right? I love Skyward Sword, but Nintendo really shouldn't be locking small-ish QoL features that should simply be included by default behind amiibos.

Requiring physical swag (that's all too likely to become hard to get for a reasonable price) to use and/or unlock shit with is the new "enforced waggle nobody asked for in an otherwise non-waggle game".

You know how much I would love to be able to use all the photo models that don't physically live on my Animal Crossing isle in shoots without having to keep a bunch of cards and a controller with NFC reader functionality nearby? Or for access to the Sanrio villagers to be readily available as a digital DLC you can buy instead of having to buy some spoofed Amiibo pay scalpers way too much money for cards that were released in limited quantities at a single store chain?

I know Nintendo has a history as a card company and toy maker and all but more consideration for accessibility would be nice.

I've seen people compare this to the Bowser's Fury function with a Bowser amiibo, and I don't think that's quite the same. At least there any Bowser amiibo would work, there wasn't one that was special-made just for that, and Bowser's Fury was a new game, not a port of an old one.

If any previous Princess Zelda amiibo would also work this wouldn't be quite as bad, but I still dislike hiding QoL features like this behind amiibo. It's not like they're locking the ability to use non-waggle controls behind one. (...right?)

Chad Super Fami-flix is getting Genealogy of the Holy War, a game where it jumps forward halfway through so you can play the previous protagonists’ kids.

Virgin Super NES-flix is getting a game about monkey named Spanky.

Does anyone make a Super Famicom replacement faceplate that changes the slightly roundy cartridge slot to the North American SNES' squaredy one? The SuperFami is a gorgeous machine, but the dumb anti-import measures taken by the SNES are a lot easier to bypass on an American machine than a Japanese one, unless -as I realized earlier this week- someone slightly widened the hole on that snap-on faceplate.

Yes! Retro Game Restore does! Info on their latest from RetroRGB.

So Nintendo put up and then mysteriously took down their latest firmware update last night. Some are speculating it broke the eShop in some way, but it appears to be working for me fine, and considering a large swath of the internet was down overnight temporarily, I’m taking that claim with a grain of salt.

It might as well be that it has media assets related to the Switch Pro and they didn’t want it to leak. Who knows with Nintendo?

Nintendo is just applying their new philosophy of limited availability to firmware. Download 13.0.1 within the next 4 hours before it goes into the vault!

Why not just use an actual original from a game you don't care about?

Not the carts; the console. You can play an American SNES cart on a Super Famicom, but it can't physically fit in the cartridge slot. I just want to be able to pop the shell off and put on a nearly-identical shell with the modified slot. That link implies more than just the top faceplate would need modifying but I'll bet it's still doable.

Just take apart the shell, and saw off the inserts. That’s what I did on my SNES.

Well, I assume the goal is to use US SNES carts on the SFC, and not the opposite. Ninj'd!
Yep. Anyway, I couldn't bring myself to break out the tabs in my system, so I generally use a Game Genie for my SFC cart testing, and occasionally even pull it out of the cart shell if it's a special chip game.

Again, I want a Super Famicom, for the aesthetics, but with the ability to take American SNES carts, not the other way around.

Honestly the best option might be to very carefully ruin file down an OEM unit.

Wouldn't that make the dust cover no longer functional? Not the worst thing, I guess, if you keep a game in it all the time.

That's where i'm at;

I kept dreading that whole video thinking "Man, there's going to be some big upgrade and I'm going to want to buy a new, expensive console, aren't I?"
