Just wanted to post that I found the appearance of Getsu Fūma Den in the lineup intriguing on two fronts: first that it's a long-dormant IP (close enough of a descriptor) that's gotten a revival, and second apparently Konami counts as "indie" these days? The style reminds me of Vanillaware's action offerings, so it could be interesting to track.

Old game-heads should be made aware that Getsu Fūma Den, as Getsu Fūma Den: Undying Moon, is finally back. It only took thirty-five years.

Lots of neat stuff in there! I put Labyrinth City, The Longing, Beasts of Maravilla Island, Aztech, Skul and the TMNT game on my wish list.

The Getsu Fuma Den trailer looks really impressive, but there's so much happening on the screen that I'm a little worried that the action will be hard to parse. Striking a normal-size enemy generates kanji big enough to obscure character models, and I can't say I'm a huge fan of that.

Does anyone know why the NES and SNES classics are releasing at a glacially slow drip? Is it because Nintendo is having trouble negotiating monies with 3rd parties? And if that's the case, why still no Earthbound?

Think of the worst thing you've ever done in your life.

That's why there's no Earthbound. It was always why. You have no one to blame but yourself.

I assume Getsu Fuma Den was at the indie showcase because it's being developed by an indie studio? They just got the license, same as that TMNT game

You'll be happy to know that Castlevania fans on the internet immediately started throwing fits about "why this and not a new 'Vania?!" Ironic, because if the now IGA-less Konami announced a new Castlevania, the fans would also start throwing fits.

GuruGuru is developing it, but it seems Konami is publishing. But Konami hasn't had the TMNT license for a good long while at this point, I don't think. Even the XBLA releases of the arcade game and Turtles in Time were from Ubisoft.

Nintendo is under the impression putting out new old games on the Switch apps at such a slow pace gets people talking whenever they do. It's true, but it's bullshit. And I suspect EarthBound and EB Zero are considered premium so they aren't rushing at the bit to give them away.

And Shakewell beat me to the GuruGuru answer, haha

I may have phrased that poorly: I'm saying that there was that TMNT game announced at the Indie World that was also made by an indie company despite being an established IP, and Getsu Fuma Den seems to be the same deal.

Oh, yeah. I guess I don't know the finer points, but I'd suspect DotEmu secured the license for Tribute to make the game? Hard to say for sure, I guess.

Blizzard Arcade Archives has a free update now that adds Lost Vikings II (SNES Only) and RPM Racing, which is pretty neat. Finally going to get a chance to beat the sequel.

Always good news to see more old games being brought back.

RPM Racing serves as a reminder of how good Rock 'n Roll Racing is, in case your faith ever wavers. I'm grateful Blizzard did not give up after the first game; I don't think it was that successful.

It's near unplayable to me, but still kind of interesting to see the Hi Res mode of the SNES used. Unfortunately, all the sprites suffer badly.

This may be the only chance in my life I have to ask this: what vehicle did you pick in RPM Racing?

Dune buggy excels on the dirt (and maybe the ice?) but there aren't many dirt tracks in the game.
Lamborghini has the highest top speed, but all the 90 degree turns and jumps made sure it never went fast.
Which leaves the truck. It special power is it doesn't lose speed on jumps. I went through the entire game in 2003 or so with the truck. I do not recommend going through the whole game.

Sadly I don't think Getsu Fuma Den looks real hot at this point, but I'll probably still play it. I hope the final game doesn't have the cheesy metal soundtrack from the trailer. It's crazy that this even exists. Maybe we'll get a Goemon compilation someday too.

I was just thinking about the OG yesterday on account of my playing the ever loving shit out of Curse of the Moon 2.

I got the Miitopia demo, which made me notice that I didn't have any Miis on my Switch. I was going to port them from the 3DS/WiiU, but it looks like I have to save each one to an Amiibo and port it over one-by-one? Is that right or is there a faster way to do this that I'm missing?

Cant link on a phone, but apparently Ni No Kuni 2 has been leaked for Switch.

I didn’t play that originally, but I’m lead to understand it was much better received than the original game, which was a bit of a slog despite being one of the nicest looking games in the genre

That page doesn't seem like it has any easier ways? It shows you can mass transfer Miis between multiple Switches directly, but for getting Miis off 3DS or WiiU it just suggests loading them into an Amiibo one at a time like VV was doing. Unless I'm also missing something.

(And even that doesn't help me, because I have an original 3DS with no NFC reader, so I don't think there's *any* way currently to get my Miis from my 3DS onto Switch.)

I cuss you bad
Ugh, didn't read properly and thought you could send Miis from the Wii U just like you could from Switch to Switch. That's immensely stupid.
