I sent in my joycon to Nintendo for them to fix about 2 weeks ago, and got it back in the mail early this week. The turnaround was basically instant once it got to them, but then I only had 1 joycon to fix so it probably wasn't a big deal. It seems like they straight up replaced the entire joycon, but I was half-expecting them to only replace the analog stick. It's probably more efficient to just send out an entire replacement though, now that I think about it. Here's hoping my left joycon doesn't start getting drift also!

I still miss Virtual Console, especially given Nintendo's recent odd "Disney vault" type behavior with the Mario 35th Anniversary. But I also love Switch Online for being a weird cavalcade of games. I'd never pay money for some of these things, but I'll certainly play them as part of an online service. And as a result, I've now beaten weird stuff like Operation Logic Bomb, S.C.A.T., Brawl Brothers, Atlantis no Nazo, etc. Between this and all the retro compilations companies have put out on the Switch (and more stuff on the way like Capcom arcade app), it's pretty damn cool.

These are my feelings too. I’ll still have my Wii for the excellent VC on it, so not a big deal.

All together the Switch has a pretty good selection of retro games. It’s just that they are spread out across multiple different implementations of both emulation and pricing of varying quality and value.

Taiko no Tatsujin is on sale for $15 instead of $50. It's been on my wishlist for two years since I loved playing it at the arcade in Tokyo but $50 was waaaaaay too much for something I wouldn't be playing with a drum controller (wish those had made it to the US, oh well). But I'm perfectly happy to have spent $15 on it, we shared the joycons and had fun. Debating some of the Ghibli DLC packs, I wish you could just buy individual songs.

I'm certain you can, on the PS4 version - is it different on Switch?

I on the other hand think it explains a lot. You see several ideas iterated on in the Mario series where I swear dude was looking at Sonic games and thinking "you know what that's pretty cool but I think it would be better if _____".

A lot of people have been asking why doesn't Nintendo follow the same path as Sony and Microsoft (in terms of buisness tactics and acquisitions). I think those people simply don't get it.

Hopefully whenever N64 games are added to NSO Rare games come along for the ride. Or Rare Replay shows up. Either would be acceptable.

We made a lot of mistakes developing that game, probably the biggest being 'let's make an interactive film entirely in pixel art with so much text the game will be impossible to localize'. The fact we got a European publisher who couldn't even release the game in their own territory still boggles my mind!

Yeah, not knocking Next Level. Just it’s funny that when Nintendo does buy a new studio it’s to maintain their current business status quo instead of trying to get a leg up on the competition.

Man, I can see why you'd say that about the art— that's some astounding presentation for a puzzle game. I made sure to snag this while I still could.

My first guess would be maybe the agreement the developers made with Nintendo to distribute the game on the 3DS eShop just lapsed, but that wouldn’t explain why Nintendo games were pulled too.

I could easily see what happened being an attempt to delist like 5-10 games went awry and instead an entire server's worth of games were taken down (probably because the DSi game storing servers don't need as much maintenance). Now a handful of games aren't being reinstated because that's what was supposed to happen, maybe. If that is what happened, I still couldn't say much of how or why, but would at least explain why the games lost are over such a specific older date range and why almost everything is back up again.
