New voice? Sounded like Dominic Armato (who was already confirmed reprising the Guybrush role) to me.

I might be wrong. Been awhile since I played a Monkey Island. I was assuming Guybrush's original voice actor was older and was probably too gruff sounding now, but he's actually only like 6 or 7 seven years older than me.

The Monkey Mechanic guy's voice sounds a lot like him, you got to give me that.

Blanc looks beautiful but you know the ending will be depressing as hell.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright looks very fun and creative! Apparently this is already out on Xbox but I'd never heard of it until now.

If Disney: Dreamlight Valley existed when I was a kid I likely would have been obsessed. Curious if their "early access" thing in September means free, if so I'll likely check it out. Having Scar and Ursula in the promo materials is especially cool.

Definitely going to check out today's Live a Live demo. Also I didn't realize until now you could queue up demos on the Switch from the browser, nice. For some reason I thought it was only full games you've bought.

The new Sonic Frontiers trailer gave me way more confidence in the game. Certainly going to wait for reviews.

Glad Mario Rabbids 2 has a date (Oct 20th)!

At last, a chance to never play through the Persona games on my own terms!

But on the plus side, that deer will be delicious.

The presentation initially made me think that Dreamlight Valley was going to be a civil war between Disney and Pixar characters, which would have been a more interesting concept than what they're actually giving us.

"Wait, was Chicken Little Disney or Pixar?"
"He sucks either way! Get him!"

I'm not really sure what other thread to put this in, so- who in the fucking WORLD wants that Limited Run version of Glover?! That game is truly, truly not good

It's like they saw Bubsy and thought, "Oh man, we can make a MUCH worse mascot than this." It's got the same problem as Billy Hatcher, in that it uses an awkward attack method that your character is chained to and pretty much worthless without. The thing is, Billy Hatcher had painfully twee graphics some people might find endearing, and Glover is clinical and devoid of artistic expression. One game has a chipper kid in a chicken suit, by a well known and occasionally liked video game artist. The other game has a hand, created by nobody. It is worth nothing.

Team Pixar would have formidable soldiers, but Team Disney has more warm bodies to throw into the meatgrinder of war - any conflict would be long and bloody. I think it's good that both sides have managed to settle aside their differences and coexist as a single community. For now.

Also: due to what I would presume to be a lack of planning, an overwhelming number of Pixar protagonists are, like, not even a foot tall. Disney got the whole cast of Hercules to stomp all over the likes of Woody, Nemo, or P.T. Flea.

Now if this were to be settled with a race...

I'd gladly triple dip if each one of those games weren't a 100+ hr behemoth. But I'm glad Switch owners who have been begging for ports are getting one.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope looks sooo good. They’re really going all out with the character designs, well beyond the first game. Who knew that a legion of identical rabbit aliens would inject so much creativity and variety into the stagnating aesthetics of Mario RPGs. They really complement each other in a way no one could have expected.

I’m glad that traditional Mario baddies are now part of the fun, instead of just hanging out in the background.

It also looks really different from the first game. I’m a little hesitant about going gridless but am looking forward to devising labyrinthian SRPG turns again, this time with even more variables in play. The first game did a great job at making you feel clever and I hope this game does the same.

never played the first, but yea it looks great. i like the concept of making the xcom style turns partially fluid and essentially adding gameplay to the movement process. a very mario thing to do but unexpected all the same.

Oh huh, I didn't pick up on it being gridless. That's a big change.

It's weird because now even the meme, designed to riff on a nearly ten year old Sega Genesis game, is an antique. It's like, nostalgia inception or something.

Target Earth's soundtrack quality to actually-playing-the-game quality ratio is off the charts.

This will sound silly but ever since I stopped formally reviewing games for it, I’ve fallen in love with my Switch.

excited for this, bayonetta 2 is pretty much the only Character Action Game that works for me, hope they nail it again

glad that it looks dumb as hell and also that they are adding a playable butch sword lesbian to the current roster of lipstick lesbians with guns

apparently they're adding an option to not show so much skin, if you want to play it in front of other people who might not get the bayonetta vibe and only feel normal embarrassed instead of extremely embarrassed (obviously someone might want to toggle it on for their own reasons, but that's explicitly how they're marketing it)

edit: dipped into the QTs and found the most important use case for this feature

I'm interpreting the nudity filter mode as born of essentially the same attitude behind Ninja Gaiden Black's Ninja Dog mode, in which a requested play option is included by the developers but with a transparent intent to mock the parts of the audience it's ostensibly for--then a difficulty-related issue, in this a sexualization one. It might as well be part of the cheekiness of the joke that as a filter it changes nothing about what it's supposed to address, as the game is not going to present women differently just because some surface textures no longer evoke bare skin--the framing is the same, the content is the same, the leering camerawork if precedent holds will be the same. I hope whoever thought it up is having a good laugh about it, because its only function seems to be a gag primed for ridicule.
