I hope whoever has the Jaleco catalogue manages to get Whomp'em re-released.

...OK, yeah, that's probably a tough one without some sprite rework, but I liked that game =(

They could release the Japanese original, Saiyūki World 2, to get around those questionable localization decisions

I love this shit. As others have said, it's such a good replication of what it felt like renting random titles for a weekend. I've been hoping Rival Turf would show up so I could do the series in order.

Having Umihara Kawase as well is just icing on the cake.

Apropos of nothing, but I was thinking to myself how it's been five years and EA never figured out how to make money off the Switch.

Like just partner with Nintendo to make a Sim City or something, EA. Hell, just license the franchise to someone more willing to develop it. There are plenty who would. Contact me and I'll tell you where to send my consulting check.

A Sim City on Switch sounds poggers until you realize what a microtransaction hellscape it would probably be, knowing EA.

I would insist that EA put The Sims 4 on Switch but for whatever reasons it already had trouble running properly on the PS4 when I tried it there.

But seriously though The Sims should've been on Switch in some capacity by now.

Also Switch games steadfastly insist on pretending the system doesn't have a touchscreen for some reason, so I assume the controls wouldn't be great.
Most consoles these days have convenient USB ports that could be used for keyboard & mouse too but they usually don't support that either. Not even when they're ports of cRPGs that were built around that.

In the Switch's case at least it's usually just a matter of touchscreen and/or motion input being extra work for a game being released on multiple platforms...but you know, when one of those platforms is mobile, it's bewildering when the Switch version doesn't at least have the option for touchscreen input.

EA has a whole bunch of back catalog games they could license to Switch Online or put out themselves that require no sports license, but I suspect they may have to pay out royalties to the original programmers and that's not going to happen either. Would be nice to have General Chaos and Haunting on a console again though.

So is Nintendo snubbing Geoff's not-E3? Would have figured they would have announced a presentation/treehouse livestreams by now if they were still going to do something in E3's absence.

An exception to that is they usually announce their E3 presentation sooner, since they everyone else is also doing presentations, but then maybe they didn't think Sumner Games Fest needed the same consideration.

The surprisingly solid dungeon crawler Mistover is going to be delisted at the end of June. And as it has a demo, I figured "Well, I should try that", and I liked that demo enough to bring the fact that it is on the verge of non-existence to the public conscience.

I dind't play MUCH of it, mind, the worm may yet turn, but it's got a nice combination of the good bits of Darkest Dungeon, Etrian Odyssey and a Roguelike all mooshed together

The article says they're going to "close the service." Is there a part of the game that's going to become unavailable?

As I said, I didn’t play too deep into it, just enough to realize I like the gameplay, but I didn’t see any kind of thing in there to warrant the description of “service”. I kind of interpreted it as being some kind of license or rights issue that got murky.

Speaking of perils of the digital age;

I'm not saying this is a false rumor. It might very well be true...

...but if I were somebody who got their jollies getting the internet worked up over made up rumors, a 1 2 Switch sequel that is so bad that Nintendo has put it on indefinite hiatus (though the higher ups are threatening to see it get released, come hell or high water) is exactly the kind of rumormonger bait I'd go for. It both easily draws out anyone who is wont to shit on Nintendo for inscrutable decision making to spread the rumor like wildfire, and it comes in with built in plausible deniability when it inevitably doesn't materialize.

Edit: Just also noting this came from Imran Kahn. While he has been right on some rumors in the past he has also hinted at things that either never, or at least have yet to, been officially confirmed. I don't think he is spreading misinformation on purpose, but rather that he is not immune to the internet rumor feedback loop.

You're telling Nintendo could have already made a sequel to the milking mingame, and are just letting it stay sitting unreleased!?

Finally something I can be mad about.

In other Nintendo rumor news, people think they've guessed the next direct will be on the 15th because Neon White devs let it slip they were stealth releasing their game on that day and no other major not E3 presentation was happening that day. Hopefully we get something next week...

Edit: Also didn't realize Neon White was console exclusive for the time being, so that is more smoke.

The 15th makes sense. Nintendo does like to go last...and they're generating some buzz for summer titles they might not need to cover extensively at a Direct due to their close release date.

Aging Hipster Dragon Dad
So the email leak was discussing the 15th was in reference to a streamer embargo dropping post release, which might mean the direct is on the 14th, which would be their normal e3 Tuesday.

Becksworth

Lol, well Neon White just had it's release date announced in the Summer Games Fest, so we're back square one on when the next direct is.

Becksworth

Aging Hipster Dragon Dad
Yeah, not confirmed but that's the current rumor. Makes sense when you think about it that the big 3 would all want their separate week/news cycle for their summer presentations in the absence of E3.

No Direct today, but seeing a picture-leak (alleged) of a currently-unannounced mainline Fire Emblem game and watching fans seething and malding over the protagonist's hairstyle is a suitable substitute for the time being. 🍿 🍿 🍿
