I'm not sure if it's worth $80 yet but Mario Kart World is a.) fucking huge and b.) has a killer soundtrack.

Did a single grand prix race but then spent the next hour in free-roam mode and barely scratched the surface.

Walmart packed mine inside like three bags in sunny CA lol. They also gave me some coke and some pringles too. Strange, but I won't say no.
I got a Coke and Pringles too! I thought it was just a random freebie, they do that with grocery delivery orders sometimes. I wonder if every Switch 2 Walmart order got them.

Mario Kart World is fun and looks fantastic. I'm a little disappointed that you apparently can't play Free Roam in split-screen unless you're waiting to start an online race. I hope they add that in a patch.

I would assume so. At least insofar as their supplies last. The card I got with mine is seems tailored to this specific event. I also got two of them lol. My initial order was for a Switch 2, but I put one in for a pro controller later. Both came with their own coke and pringles.

Notes on controllers:

My Switch 1 joycons paired with no issue.

PowerA Switch 1 Pro controller had to plug in USB before it would pair, then it worked wirelessly like normal.

A Wii U pro controller paired through a Magic-NS USB dongle would NOT work so far. I'll troubleshoot it some more because it's always a little flakey, but right now it looks incompatible.

EDIT: I forgot to set the enable USB for wireless controllers when plugged in thing, the Magic-NS works fine.

Heh, me too. 20oz Coke and pizza-flavored Pringles. They delivered mine at 7:34 AM, which is a lot earlier than I was expecting given they amended my "by 9 AM" to "by 10 PM".

Managed to get my screen protector on and system logged in before heading to work. I'll fiddle with it a lot this evening. I'm not doing a system transfer, as I'm not retiring my original Switch just yet.

Still no official statement from Nintendo, but Marvelous says, in an official press release, that the Switch 2 physical release of Rune Factory will play the Switch 1 version if inserted in a Switch 1. They specifically state both versions are on a single Switch 2 card and there are no downloads required, besides any normal patching.

Final word is Switch 2 Edition physical games like BotW and TotK will indeed play the base game when inserted in a Switch 1, and several 12-year-olds on Reddit owe me apologies.

Very interesting! That does remind me, wasn't there one of these launch games that contains both Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions of the game on cart?

You know, there's one workaround that I wonder if it would be possible to cut costs on some of these Switch 2 games, and that's to allow distribution on Switch 1 carts, and install them to the internal memory or SD Express card, much like PS4/5 games do. At least you'd have the whole game on a cart, even if it didn't immediately play from there.

Managed to get my screen protector on and...
Apparently the Switch 2 comes with a screen protector already on it? But like, an additional one isn't gonna hurt anything.

Any downsides to doing the system transfer? I don't have many if any digital games, but getting save files to move over would be nice. But I don't want my old switch wiped in the process just yet.

I believe it's the same thin film that the OLED has on it, I wouldn't really consider it a screen protector. It mainly prevents shards of glass from escaping if someone drops it that hard. I'll definitely be putting a dedicated screen protector on mine when I get home, but I'm pretty paranoid about that stuff (and prone to dropping shit).

I got cold feet and didn't do the system transfer because some said save data for profiles that aren't tied to a Nintendo Account are wiped from the Switch 1. I didn't want to chance erasing my daughter's Animal Crossing island, so I did everything manually.

Yeah, that's what I'd read. If it was just the glass screen exposed, I'd roll without one, but with that film on it, I figure that will get marked up quite a bit so I put one on there.

That makes sense, and is probably the safe play. I watched Jerry go at it with the scratch test and it didn't hold up very well:

Mine is out for delivery, which is both good but also bad, since I'm not at home
Final verdict: bad! They arrived during the window when nobody was home. It sucks, but I should be able to pick it up tomorrow afternoon at the store where they bring missed deliveries in my area.

My amazing wife grabbed me one from Costco today. First impressions: the joycons feel nice.
