The original Four Swords with online multiplayer may finally get me to bite on the upgraded NSO membership, if I can convince my buddy to do so too...

I did not have "New Zelda Game Starring Zelda In The Link's Awakening HD Engine" on my bingo card, but now I'm not sure how I could've wanted anything else

There were so many surprises I'm knocked six ways sideways

Thank god for reliable and consistent Silksong to provide some steady ground

Was there even a whisper of a rumor about a new M&L game? That was pretty surprising considering everyone thought that series was dead and buried with the 3DS.

That was really neat! Particularly for things that align with my interests, specifically!

-So, within a 12-month period, we get awesome remakes of SMRPG, Paper Mario TTYD, and a new M&L? A lot of unknowns here...the last couple M&Ls weren't...my favorites. And we don't even know who's making this one. But the animation and art style really bring out the expressiveness and humor in that trailer, which are series hallmarks.

-MIO: A really pretty 2D platformer with wall jumps, air dashes, and what at least looks like crisp movement? It's probably a Metroidvania? It has my attention!

-A bunch of '90s Marvel/Capcom things!

-The best Rare-developed N64 FPS! With online multiplayer!

-It is arguably the fifth-best Donkey Kong Country, but in my mind, that's still an 8.5/10, MINIMUM. And a version of DKC Returns with no motion controls, in HD, AND with the extra 3DS levels sounds pretty nice.

-Metroid Prime 4 lives! Would still love to hear something a bit more specific than a release YEAR, but I'm still high on the fact we got a brand-new Metroid and a very pretty version of Prime on the Switch.

-Zelda gets to star in a Zelda! Finally! And it looks like the crafting of Tears of the Kingdom is translated to a more traditional top-down Zelda format! Link Between Worlds and Awakening are at the very top of my Zelda power-rankings, so I love to see inspiration taken from that direction. Sprinkling in some Aria of Sorrow mechanics for flavor defintely can't hurt.

-I'm also happy for folks who like Dragon Quest.

For the briefest of seconds, I wondered if it was a remake/nod to the CD-i game, but very quickly I realized I'm a dumbass lol

Honestly, your Wild Breaths and your Kingdom Tears are all well and good but this is the kind of Zelda I'm here for.

By the way, I don't have Apple devices, so is that Fantasian game any good, for those that have played it?

I dunno. I'd much rather have Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey or Last Story but I guess those are all trapped on dead systems forever.

I have no confidence in Fantasian's writing (especially when it comes to women) but I'm interested in it for the miniature dioramas.

That was a crazy nintendo direct

I wonder, are all the 2025 games on the Switch's successor? Or are the 2024 games (like Mario Party and Mario and Luigi) going to release as cross-platform games?

There will no doubt be some games released on both systems, but everything shown today was for the Switch.

This was a great Direct.

It's one of the hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters. You can tell because he looks like a character from a DS game.

I respect Kensuke Tanabe's commitment to making a second-string antagonist from an 18 year old spinoff game with a bioncle-tier design the main antagonist of a modern AAA tentpole Nintendo release.

(His name is Sylux.)
