Fuckin' dope. Can't wait to find out what the ED is. I'm sure it'll be more of a conventional pop song and contemporary to the manga's release but me, I want it to be Bikini Kill's "Rebel Girl".

Man, the ED is very low key for a Jojo and spends a tremendous amount of craft of waves crafting into the shore. Since when did Jojo ever do "less is more" instead of "Photo-ghost rides a crow?" But it works.

Absolutely no spoilers.

Nothing with picking a nice scene for the perfect song.

I really want to know if this was a Netflix thing or more on the David Productions side or... what (Covid?). Can't say I'm a fan! I haven't even watched the 1st 12 episodes yet because I wanted to know how long it would be before the next batch. Ugh

Wild. That's... actually reasonable.

I can't wait and I can't wait for JBear to see how it ends and the knowledgeable that comes with it.

Ok. Ok. I'm on a bit of a rollercoaster here.

I finally after a lot of procrastination finished the Second Jojo. You know, the Pillar Men one. So I finally got to part 3, the Jojo that Everyone Knows. And yeah, I'm totally blown away by the immense jump in animation quality and scene blocking and the new fight ghosts are super fucking cool.

Then for the span of about one episode my heart is completely broken as I discover they are no longer using Roundabout for the end credits. It actually almost makes me stop watching because I had gotten so attached to that foible. But then I was overjoyed when Walk Like An Egyptian kicked in at the end of the next episode.

So things are going good until I reach the next episode... on the plane.

I don't notice anything off immediately but I realize I've seen what's going on before.

This episode is fucking censored. On Netflix, which absolutely has tons of gore in all kinds of material. Now I'm not heartbroken, I am absolutely livid. Jojo's occasional completely fucking buck wild body horror is absolutely one of the draws for me. I am furious enough to stop watching completely and may even delete my Netflix subscription out of spite.

Jojo is censored on CrunchyRoll, too. At least, the part I remember being very censored. This one.

What could he possibly be doing in those shadows.

Anyway, yeah, 3 is weird like that, most places you see it, that's the version. BUT if it really matters to you, you can watch it pirate style (usually it does for me but I could live with it in this series), then jump back in with Part 4 on Netflix (my favourite) which, to my memory, is uncensored. And not because the show isn't nasty. Heck, even the sillier episodes can be pretty bloody (the Italian restaurant episode being a classic).

So when watching Phantom Blood I sometimes got this vibe from it. A vibe where I couldn't help but wonder if it was inspired by Castlevania or vice-versa. Especially because both treat vampires much less as undead bloodsuckers and more as cosmic demigods. So that has me kind of thinking about the three chapters I'm up to now in video game terms and my findings are thus:

If Phantom Blood is an action platformer, then

Battle Tendency is a Monkey Island style adventure game and

Stardust Crusaders is a turn-based RPG

At least, that's my vibes at the moment, I'm still pretty early on in JoJo 3, the weirdest thing I've seen so far is a monkey who's fight ghost is a boat.

PS Also Stardust Crusaders is a Magical Girl show but the Magical Girls are ten foot tall muscle men.

You aren't wrong but the biggest influence for Jojo characters is video games. Especially Stroheim and Polnareff.

Guile's memorable hairstyle is heavily inspired by Stroheim's and Polnareff's and Paul Phoenix's hair is also inspired by Polnareff.

Also, Brocken from World Heroes is a complete rip-off...

I wish Japan hated Nazis more…

IGA seemingly adores JoJo, and a bunch of the Castlevania games he worked on have a lot of references that I assume are from this incomprehensibly flamboyant, dog murdering comic.

So I'm getting close to the end of the Diamond Is Unbreakable manga. By now I'm well aware that many of the names in the series are references to bands and songs.

Villain has a Stand named "Deadly Queen". That's a cool name, I think to myself, but I have no idea where it comes from.

Deadly Queen gets a new ability called "Bites the dust". Nope, still not getting it.

One of the sketches between chapters has the text "Another one bites the dust". Hey, I think to myself, isn't that the name of a song by... ohhhh!

Not one of my proudest moments, I admit.
