I guess I'll just keep posting stuff as I learn it.

Some people are working on compiling a list of everyone's learned spells.

Each of the flame lords can unlock access to three Advanced classes, one of which is exclusively unlocked in that path, by doing their unique overworld mechanics enough. For example, earlier today I think I did some important fraction of Dietrich's Dread Warrior battles, and as a result they added the Guardian class, which specializes in spears and faith, to the certifications menu. Classes unlocked in this way remain unlocked in all routes. I don't yet know what all classes are unlockable in this way.

The support and renown requirements to recruit characters varies between path. In each path I play, I'm planning to recruit everyone who only requires support 1 or 2. In total, there are 12 characters who never join automatically and require support 3 on every path where they're recruitable: Fianna, Gaitz, Goliath, Halvin, Jester, Loretta, Ludia, Ninae, Seteth, Sha Lan, Simon, and Ursula.. I figure if I get three of them on every path, I'll end up having caught 'em all.

Playing on Dietrich's path, I put Mikaela into Pugilist because it seemed better than Brigand (seems like axes kinda stink). I decided to try to recruit Mu because if she's going to end up babysat by a serial killer, it should at least be the one that her mom is riding with; supposedly her personal skill makes her excel as a Pugilist. And I just now recruited Noctula, who defaults to Pugilist and has everything she needs to kick ass right out of the gate. I wasn't planning for this to happen, but I'll roll with it. After years of denying us arbitrarily, finally we can have an army of punching ladies. (The 1-2 range gauntlet weapon is expensive, but I should be able to scrape together enough to grab it this chapter.)

Cai's path has a mechanic based on acquiring unique mounts with special abilities which get stronger as they deepen their bond. However, Io and Alexandra have special mounts as well, and they're the only ones who can access the mount bond mechanic without Cai. This tends to make them a bit stronger than you'd expect just from looking at them, if you can recruit them early. Io is available very early in Dietrich's route, and he joins at level 20 when most of your guys are still level 10-15 because he needs to start in Light Cavalry in order to bring his horse with him. Seems like he has a lot to contribute, though the impact might be lessened since he's still just some guy, and Dietrich and Esmeralda are both among the strongest combat units in the game on average.

Three of the four secondary flame lords have managed to do something to make me acutely interested in them. Haven't even seen Bertrand yet, but I hear tell he features heavily in Cai and Leda's paths. Anatolia's deep lore connections and Talimun's whole attitude charmed me from the beginning, but I didn't take much of an interest in Orchel until I got a chance to take a look at her stats page and saw that she's an armored mage. Finally, after thirty years, a playable Baron...! (Why didn't Edelgard get access to magic in her personal class?)

I can't stop thinking about this game all the time when I'm not playing it, which I haven't been able to as much as I want.

I started playing this and basically finished the prologue and chose my main character. Went with Dietrich, because the callbacks to the setting of Three Houses from his background made it seem like it would be a good intro to the new area.

I haven't touched it since sadly as we had a lot going on and were out of town for a bit, I really want a block of time to settle in and play this. Hopefully this weekend...

Cai and Leda are said to be the smoothest introductions, mechanically. They also take a more active interest in the events surrounding the Games.

I too began with Dietrich despite loathing basically everything about him* because it felt like the best sequel plot hook, and his route does indeed not disappoint in that capacity, and he also appealed as a sort of "stranger in a strange land" starting point, but otherwise his intro really leaves you narratively floundering in the new setting. What are these games? Who is anyone? Enh, wing it.

* - I softened on him a little once I realized that he's just Goku**. Loves to eat, loves to fight, and will pal up with genocidal maniacs if it means he gets to fight a strong guy.

** - Or maybe a Vegeta. He's a bit of an edgelord, and the game seens to be implying that he did some pretty heinous shit back in Fodlan, probably to fight a strong guy.
