Wait, the "Discovery" in this context is like, the Discovery channel? What do they... have to do with WB? I can't ever keep any of this straight.
Discovery Inc is the corporate entity that owns/runs the Discovery Channel, among a few dozen others (of which I listed some of the more recognizable/noteworthy/successful ones). Several months back, AT&T cut bait on its media holdings and sold WB and its myriad subsidiaries/entities to Discovery Inc. Discovery Inc is now in the process of consolidating, and there's no way that's not gonna be a very messy, bloody transition - which is what all current indications point towards.
A messy bloody transition like the one WB just went through when it merged with AT&T a few years ago.

This Young Justice season is leaning a bit heavy on the religion talk, which doesn’t do much for me, but I’m otherwise digging it.
I'm sure it's a ymmv thing, but I actually massively dig the religion talk. Specifically, they're having Halo - as a surrogate for the audience - explore what being Muslim means. Which strikes me as an infinitely more meaningful and instructive way to explore identity, being actually inclusive, and demystify The Other versus just putting a label on a character as the token minority and then moving along.
In fact, that's the beauty of this season to me. It's really exploring its themes in depth and actually showing what it really looks like and how it is, versus paying lip service or have it be a plot beat that is quickly moved on from. Beast Boy's PTSD and descent into depression has been harrowing and not fun, but it's also probably been one of the better, more true-to-life representations of what that's like in media in general. And for a show that kids and teens watch, very instructive. Especially when popular media for decades has simply equated 'depression' with 'being sad' and as a switch that you can magically turn off which isn't what that ever is. I think these kinds of things are not just important but that there's moral imperative for shows that use these kinds of things as plot points to actually responsibly explore them when they have younger target audiences.

I liked Halo’s talk with their sorta mom better than that magician dude reciting an our father to prove he’s christian I guess?
I thought it was fine. It was a very Deep Space 9-y way of reconciling religion with modernity and showing how to best/responsibly use/practice it, how there are places for it in modern life, and how it helps some people. How they can be tools for empathy and self-empowerment rather than to Other people and made as an excuse to oppress.
I finally started with Young Justice a few weeks ago and am still working my way through Season 2. Season 1 was pretty good. Too much Red Tornado, a problem with any story that features Red Tornado.
This is precisely why I am so strongly against the idea that the reason SW Episode IX was bad was that that the sequel trilogy wasn't master planned from the start. There are lots of reasons IX is bad but the movies not being mapped out in advance wasn't, in itself, one of them, and VIII was great in part because Rian Johnson took the Star Wars box and shook it good and hard.

Why not both? JJ and/or Disney didn't want to build off of Johnson's work, so they tried to push it back to JJ's vision, which didn't actually exist because JJ was just doing his mystery box thing in VII.

Season 2 was a bit of a disappointment to most folks because people essentially wanted more Justice League and instead got Justice League Unlimited. Which I was fine with/really enjoyed, but get why the de-emphasis on the characters people liked was a bummer. Also, The Reach wasn't the coolest of big bads for a season long arc.
Season 3 narrowed the focus onto a smaller group of characters again, but mostly on a bunch of new characters, which made S1 fans reeeee like little frogs, but I thought it was a really good season with a really strong narrative arc. And most of the new characters were really fun.
Season 4 so far is incredible. Returning the focus back onto the S1 characters, but giving each one a somewhat stand alone arc and letting the show explore the expansive, greater cast of DC heroes via their relationships with those S1 main characters. Also, the ongoing connective tissue of all the fallout from Vandal Savage's conquests and mishaps through time has been utterly delightful on account of Vandal Savage being one of DC's best and most criminally underutilized villains. Of course, the same detractors of S2 and S3 are just as mad at S4, despite it ostensibly being a return to form. And because of that you can probably guess what their real problems with S2 and 3 were. iT's ToO wOkE
So, The Batman came out on HBO Max today and, much to my surprise, I liked it. Mostly. And while the Ridller flooding Gotham and the fight on the stadium feels too long, I get what the point was, I think. If anything, my problem is that it doesn't go far enough: I expected Bruce realizing vengeance is not good, actually, and his pivot to provide hope would spurn him to embrace the Bruce persona and start doing something with those millions. I mean, everything was pointing to that, up to and including Selina's comment on Bats being rich and the Riddler's motivations to off Bruce, but they never takee that next step. Makes the movie feel like it stops rather than conclude, I think.
But I liked that we're back to a non-gun Batman, and while the Catwoman/Batman romance feel tacked on to me, kudos to the writer and director for properly paying homage to all the Year Zero/One Batman stories and managing to keep the story coherent. Also, to whoever decided to keep the Bat origin out of frame (not even a flashback!) - I could kiss you. May Martha Wayne's pearls enjoy a permanent retirement.
Funny, if you had told me one decade ago that Matt "Edgy Power Rangers" Reeves would have a better hold on the concepts of heroism and Batman's motivations than, say, Zack Snyder, I'd have stared really, really hard at you.
BTW, is there any major franchise by now that Giaccino hasn't scored and rocked? At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he was frontrunner to score Streets of Rage.

As a big fan of GLTAS and sad that it got the axe despite being a really good show it's just so freaking incredible that after all these years we get something like this. Out of Young Justice no less! I really implore everyone who hasn't caught up to do so, Earth 16 is quickly turning into my favorite DC thing ever. The moment when Razer started dual wielding his blue and red ring was like, a bucket list fulfilling event.

Legends was fun, but I'm not really surprised. This last season had a sense of finality to it, where there was a LOT of consternation regarding the nature/efficacy of the group, a reunion of most of the former cast members, and a lot of storylines/characters given neat tidy bows to their arcs and seemingly written off the show anyways. It definitely had the feeling of a show that knew its time was up and that they were going to write things in case that was the case.
Batwoman strangely got sort of watchable in the final season? But it was still an atrocious show. It lasted way longer than it deserved to, and it's kinda crazy they managed to get three seasons out of it to begin with.
With Legends over, Supergirl over, Batwoman over, Arrow spin-off show dead on arrival, and The Flash probably coming to a close, looks like the Arrowverse is being given a merciful end. Which is definitely for the best. Every single one of those shows peaked long ago, and they've all become so bad and cheap looking and embarrassing compared to the stuff coming out on HBO Max. Glad it's over so I can stop punishing myself with them.
Well… CW as a concept is now dead to me.
I mean, its Flash and Superman left standing, and Flash is on its last legs (I don't know if its official, but I've heard the next season described as a final season), and Superman and Lois, as far as I can tell, is in no way connected to the others. It seems more like DCUniverse cast-off Stargirl.
