The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is ending. I think.

So, season 4 drops on Thursday, at least according to my Netflix account. I think it is supposed to be the last season. Very excited for it, and I will probably watch the whole show, afterwards.

Anyone else still interested in this show? I vaguely remember that not many people seemed to care, when S3 was released.

seems to be the natural life cycle of popular Netflix-brand entertainment: the first season makes a huge splash, but then there's a massive falloff.

(also it's sort of like... season 2 seemed like the natural endpoint for the story and so season 3 was mostly just spinning its wheels)
((also for some reason season 3 had a lot of pointless + bad diegetic musical numbers))

I'm afraid I never caught up with season or "part" 3... if I truly cared about labor I would watch netflix shows immediately and let them run in the background because they're penalized if people don't binge them, even though I can't binge-watch anything at this point.

I wasn't criticising, just curious if there were other people who were still interested. It's just a show that feels so very much made for me, so I hope that I'm not alone in liking it.

I don't even remember the musical numbers in S3, but I don't remember much of anything specific. The pace is so fast, and I have binged every season for now in two days, or so, so not much is sticking. Just really digging the atmosphere. And how dumb everything and everyone is.

Just watched the first two episodes, still adore it in every way. It's still creepy and weird, and still goofy and dumb. Sabrina still does things that are very obviously BAD ideas.

More Salem! Not in a big role, but he is more often in a scene, mews sometimes, and is just adorable in general. So that's a plus.

I love the concept of the Eldritch Horrors. The whole concept is absolutely fascinating to me, and I feel like there is a ton of subtext to go out of them. I'm looking forward to finding out who the other Horrors are. The second episode already spoke of The Weird, and Evil Priest guy whose name I forgot had a vision of something with tentacles, so I guess it's time for Chtulhu.

I wished this show would never end. But, even if it does, I will (hopefully) always be able to rewatch it. I'm just always impressed by how much it fits to my personal taste.

I just finished episode 5 and I think this is the best season of the show so far. It's shaping up to be my favorite, at least. It's wayyyy more episodic than the show ever was before, which is a huge plus for me after so much of the previous seasons felt like they got bogged down in overly complicated plot lines. Plus there's like, actual character writing, and at least a hint that Sabrina might finally have to face the consequences of her own actions after getting away with everything and always avoiding the fallout of her decisions.

Is it just her or is the narrative getting around to the rest of the even more unforgivable witches? (stopped watching after two seasons, maybe they have)

I haven't watched the show, but this thread prompted me to read a little about it, and I just love how the show's acronym is "CAOS".

Also finished episode 5 today, and it's really nice to have actual breaks between the episodes, instead of cliffhangers every time. I never minded much, but it made it really hard to find an actual point to take a break, because stuff just happened all the time.

Is it bad, that I have never stopped feeling bad for Lilith, since they showed her backstory? She did horrible things, but she also experienced horrible things, and I would like her to be happy.

It's still mainly focused on Sabrina. And, while I don't want to discourage you from watching, I don't think it changed that much, in that everyone is kind of horrible. So, if you didn't like the show at the end, I don't think it will win you over now.

Aaaaand I finished it. I don't know how I feel about the ending. Or most of the final episode, I guess. I liked everything else a lot though!

I just watched episode 6, and wow, that was intense and touching. This season goes to really wild places, and here it went right for the feels.

Two Sword Prudence is awesome, and I enjoy her presence in general a lot.

Not sure if it is my favourite season (I loved them all, and I don't remember the other ones that well, it's all kind of a fever dream), but it's certainly a great one.

Edit: I've started episode 7, and it starts kind of amazing. And HORRIFYING.

Done. I love this show, all of it.

S4E7 is probably my very favourite episode of the whole show. I wished it had actually looked more colorful and light, like the 90s sitcom was, to make the contrast even more intense. I loved the realization that ridiculous puppet Salem is an Eldritch terror, and the concept of the Infinite in connection with something mundane and goofy as a 90s sitcom is so great, and so much made for me. Just loved how horrifying everything is, and that weird contrast. Awesome episode.

I did enjoy the finale, including the very ending. I like the idea of the Heroine/Hero of a story giving their life to save the world, or at least their loved ones. It is probably not a good message, and I will have to think about it, but it feels powerful, even if problematic. That Nick committed suicide, I liked less, even if I kind of did, too. It is symbolically strong (and, again, problematic), and it seems like a very teenage idea.

Last scene with Lilith and Lucifer: Loved it. Again, not sure if it is bad for me to ish her to win, but I just do. And Lucifer was always the worst, it felt so good to see him go down for good.

Any thoughts on the Trinket Man, Yangus? I feel like there is STUFF there, but I don't know how to get it out. Reminded me of the Mask Salesmen from Majoras Mask.

It feels like, this season especially, was full of THEMES, and I need to rewatch it (and the rest of the show too). I still find the concept of the antagonists so great and interesting, but I have trouble putting my emotions into words. It feels like there is so much there, and I can't quite reach it.

Great stuff, great season, great show. I think I loved every minute of it.

Even my girlfriend, who barely ever voices her criticism of TV shows or movies or anything like that, said out loud that the ending sends a really bad message that she didn't like. Can't say I disagree with that either! But you hit it right on the head too: it's a very "teenage" ending.

I liked him a lot. I was really expecting there to be some kind of explanation for who he is, but then there wasn't. The Happy Mask Salesman is a great connection though, he's totally that guy.

After a few more thoughts, I totally agree. It's not even a good idea inside the shows world, considering how the will probably fight within 24 hours, or something. But aside from that, yeah, it is a very bad message, and a very bad idea of what romantic love is supposed to be.

Some thoughts on this season and the show as a whole:
They did Lilith dirty this season, I don't know if the actress just... wasn't available to shoot a lot, or what. During that sequence I was like "oh, Lilith, who is smart, obviously concocted a plan to trick Lucifer, who is terrible" but then the show was like "No, Lilith is actually very dumb and actually did the thing"

The Twins sure seem pointless huh.

It's pretty funny that The Eldritch Terrors are, like, An All Consuming Darkness, a hivemind from the deepest abyss that wants to assimilate the entire world, multiple reality warping entities, Eternity and Nothingness themselves, and, like, A Homeless Guy, who's thing is just, like, killing one person at a time. RIP to the mother from part 3 I guess.

I had a similar issue with the ending that other folks mentioned, that's a terrible message to send and also I think it was a poor choice for The Sweet Hereafter to use the same set as the Void. There are a few logistical issues (I don't really understand why Robin wasn't the one going into the Void to find the people and also it seems strange that Agatha was representing The Maiden in the final bit instead of Prudence?), and it feels like maybe the intended set up for season 5 was going to be The Baron revives 'Brina for Peg Queen Zelda, but since this is a Warner Bros property Netflix had to bring the hammer down.

Same. That was pretty disappointing.
