Marie Claire published an article about Black Lives Matter internationally and profiled a Japanese-Nigerian electronic artist I'd never heard of before, KATIMI AI. I am really digging her stuff and had to share. Here's her Soundcloud.

Also, where are people finding electronica these days? I keep my Sirius subscription for the BPM, Diplo, Utopia, Chill and Chillhop channels so I can have music in my car but would be curious what other people use. Pandora never seems to add anything new, I gave up on it probably two years ago now.

Soundcloud, Bandcamp, sometimes Spotify (when I still had a sub) will turn up neat stuff.

Like, I'd been tangentially familliar with Ninja Sex Party just from the nerdcore music scene and Game Grumps mentions (when I still watched that, heh), but I had no idea that most of their music was done in collab with TWRP who are an extremely solid synthwave/funk fusion band on their own.

Meteor's an artist I discovered through his official Soundcloud channel (by playing track radio from a Dancing With The Dead song), who mostly works with the darker end of the synthwave genre

Jean-Michel Jarre is doing a live virtual concert on New Years Eve. Should be really interesting, really looking forward to it.

Well I'm on board. Also with everything that happened this year Notre Dame had honestly slipped my mind, excited to see something happening there.

Here's another virtual concert that streamed a little earlier this evening. I'm really enjoying these things, even though I know the artists much prefer actual live in-person shows. This one is from Minuit Machine, one of my favorite artists of this last year.

I was worried for a moment that this was only on Paris time, but replays are up, just started it now.

Edit: I am just starting and pretty puzzled by what is actually live, but hey funky animation. I kind of wish they had more than just three camera pans of virtual Notre Dame, but oh well. Still enjoying it. Also it keeps the dogs from being scared of the fireworks so bonus there!

Yeah I'm not sure either. It appeared to be a mix of live and VR (he's been doing a lot of VR concerts this last year) and I'm not sure what was what there. Sounded great though, just wish it had been a little longer. I would have loved to hear more of his slower tempo, classic style stuff mixed in with the dancier stuff.

It really picked up, the opening was by war the weakest part. I definitely want that laser harp thing he used at the end!

SiriusXM is doing a virtual festival through Tuesday, lots of good acts. Wish I'd heard about it sooner.

Also they're offering free listening to non-subscribers through June 8th:

From May 26 through June 8, non-subscribers can get BPM, Chill, Diplo’s Revolution, and Utopia channels as part of the SiriusXM Listen Free Event. During this event, SiriusXM will feature a sampling of over 100 SiriusXM channels, including ad-free music of every kind, sports, talk, news, and entertainment available to non-subscribers on inactive SiriusXM radios in their car and on the SiriusXM app, with no credit card required. The Utopia channel will be available to these listeners only on the SiriusXM app. Go to siriusxm.com/listenfreeevent to learn more.

(finally) saw Porter Robinson live last night, wonderful concert. Oregon is the first stop on the Nurture tour and it's a lot of fun. There's a cool bit during Divinity when he turns on the webcam and projects the crowd, and a new, uh, hard to describe but maybe "rougher" version of Shelter which was more acoustic sounding and he projected the storyboards for the animation which was neat.

If you're interested, the set is about the same as the Second Sky one below and with all the coordination with the visuals I assume the set list will be the same for the whole tour. I was definitely caught off-guard by how different his voice (filtered and unfiltered) is live, but it makes sense that the really produced stuff on the album wouldn't work live. I liked it by the end.

Also one of the opening acts was Jai Wolf, a name I didn't recognize but I knew about half the songs he played! The one below is one of my favourites, I think I know it from Rocket League but can't quite place it right now.

ODESZA has a new song out today

and Porter Robinson is releasing a new one tomorrow. I've never tried to use one of the links that premieres later so hopefully this works when it comes out.

Just discovered this artist, State Azure. Droning ambient with Blade Runner vibes. Good stuff to relax to if you like relaxing in a cyberpunk dystopia.
