It is the goal of the site leadership to make this community an inviting and nourishing space to discuss topics across a wide variety of gravity and importance.

  • Be kind to others. Every member of Talking Time deserves respect. Personal attacks, whether overt or passive aggressive, are in violation of this rule.
    • People belonging to marginalized groups have the right to inform more privileged people when they're making a gross display of said privilege.
    • Marginalized groups are defined for this purpose as any combination of non-white, non-male, disabled, non-cisgender, and neurodivergent people.

  • You are expected at all times to use your best judgment in interacting with other members of this community. Banter is one thing, but if someone feels hurt by your words, you are expected to respond to that with sincerity.

  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
    • This extends to the use of slurs, deadnaming, and other intentionally hurtful language.
    • Ironic bigotry is still bigotry and will be treated as such.

  • Body-shaming is not acceptable.

  • Use both spoiler tags and content warnings when discussing sensitive topics that might be triggering to other members.
    • When in doubt, err on the side of caution. This includes links to tweets or other embeds that contain harmful language or content that may be upsetting.
    • This includes any discussion of self-harm and/or suicide. As a community we will support each other as best as we can, but we are neither equipped nor trained to deal with life or death situations. If you are experiencing a crisis, we urge you to seek professional help immediately.

  • Respect people's comfort. It is understandably difficult to read mood via text, but be attentive to the signals that are being put out. If someone seems uncomfortable with a topic or conversation, err toward being safe rather than sorry.

  • Respect people's right to disengage. If someone has made it clear they're done with a conversation, do not attempt to drag them back into a debate or to get the last word.

  • Mods reserve the right to ban or put on a time-out particularly heated topics. If you are getting worked up over such a topic, consider taking a break for a while rather than keep pressing your argument.

  • Make a good faith effort to cite sources for any shared images or other media.

  • Do not knowingly share AI-generated content.

  • Do not directly link to pirated or sexually explicit material. Additionally, avoid linking to material that sexualizes minors.

  • Understand that storming out or otherwise making a dramatic exit may result in refusal of re-entry.

  • All mods are able to provide account or thread/channel maintenance, such as renaming, closing, moving, sticking, unsticking, etc. Feel free to reach out to any mod for support, either via direct message or the Report function on the forums.

  • If you need your 2FA authentication reset, please contact an admin.
    • Admins are Gaer, Gahitsu, Kishi and SilentSnake.

  • If you have a behavioral concern about a mod, please bring it to the attention of any other mod. Your name will be kept secret and your words rephrased when your concern is raised to the group, so you won't be retaliated against.

  • After you've raised a behavioral concern to a mod, they will be expected to inform you of the group's response once it has been decided. This may take some time as we take these reports seriously, and will need to carefully consider them. If you're still waiting for a response after a day or two, reach out to a mod for an update. All mods are privy to the same information.

  • Individual moderators may take immediate temporary action as needed to deescalate a situation or otherwise address an emergent concern, but any permanent action, such as a ban, will be taken only after discussion with the rest of the mod team.
    • We do not take these issues lightly, and as such any decisions of the moderation team are final. There is no appeal process.

  • Understand that no written code of conduct can hope to cover every eventuality. Depending on the situation, the moderation team may have to take action against behavior that is deemed to be harmful to the community even if it's not in clear violation of a specifically enumerated rule.
    • This includes repeatedly skirting the boundaries of the rules or otherwise acting in bad faith.
