Super Mario 3D World: Bowser's Furry

i love 3d world, but i also still have it for wii u...

really wish this wasn't a nintendo game so I could say I'll wait for a discount to get it for bowser's fury. idk, I really want to play it, but i can definitely wait

I have 3D World on Wii U, but my Wii U has a defunct HDMI port and I like that this is actually portable, so odds are good I'll get this. Eventually, anyway. Money's still pretty tight 'cuz of the ongoing pandemic and the uncertainty of whether or not things are going to shut down again (in our area).

I'd double-dip for 3D World on the basis of the increased gameplay speed alone, personally. Online multiplayer... actually, I have no idea how any possible chat setup I can use would work with that.

I'm getting it again, Mario 3D World is my favourite Mario game. Stick in some more stuff and I'm definitely in.

Some Fury Bowsettes were making the rounds yesterday. The horny was wasting no time.

Anyway, no mention of my most hoped for tweak, adding Rosalina from the start so probably not happening. Bummer.

Bowser's Fury feels more like a standalone structural experiment rather than an expansion pack, and I'm glad Nintendo still has the it in them to release weird stuff like this with this budget.

I never played 3D World so I'm getting this regardless, and whatever Bowser's Fury is (I have absolutely no knowledge of it) looks neat too. Consider me In

My prediction rewatching the trailer after that snippet of info is there are four sets of islands based on the four seasons with 5 cat shines each, so 20 “levels” total.

I'm really excited to play through this again with a bit of a speed boost. It's still a brilliant, brilliant game.

I was always gonna get this anyway, since I've never owned a WiiU, but the promise of kaiju throwdowns in a Mario platformer is an enticing enough extra in my book.

There was a while there that I thought that Bowser's Fury might be a 3D Land style hard-mode remix of 3D World's levels, but maybe this game wouldn't even benefit from that? Never got to play 3D World before, so I couldn't say.

Anyway, this gonna be a day one for me!

Given how much 3D Land loved its cosmic clone remixes, I could definitely see something like that mostly working but it would have to be single-player only.

For sure. The stages where the platforms flip when you jump are already a nightmare with more than one player; I speak from experience.

Well, as I think about it more, a mode with a cosmic clone for every player would be pretty fun in a dumb chaotic way, you just can't really expect anyone to be able to beat that

Yeah, I played through those in four player with two young kids. They were doable, but required more teamwork than anything else I've played.

Damn, a remix mode akin to 3D Land would be insanely cool. I figure there's literally zero chance that's been added as an extra, haha.

The last couple of worlds already contained a fair number of remixes of early levels. Nothing as explicit as 3D Land's entire Special World system, where you clear world 8 and then it's like The Real Super Mario 3D Land Starts Here, but it's there.

This is out now, digitally. I didn't play any Bowser's Fury yet, but the main game is so fast now it's amazing.

I'm playing as random characters every level. Even Luigi and Peach can haul ass. Toad can get going almost uncontrollably fast. For the third time now, Mario is once again the new Sonic. It's the first time there's been a Mario game with a sprint button where I find myself frequently not using it.

This does have the side effect of making the levels with timing-based obstacles disproportionately more difficult. I haven't gotten far enough yet to see what effect it has on levels where the timer is a significant limitation.

I've played through the first two worlds. I'm not a fan of the plessie level and I thought the Bowser car fight was kind of tedious, but otherwise it's been a lot of fun. Being able to scale walls with the cat suit really opens up levels. I started off as Toad, then switched to Luigi because Toad is just way too fast.

This game is really cheering me up! I've been in a funk for months and months, so the over-the-top positivity of this game is hitting me in the right place.

Stupid UPS being slowed down by stupid snow storms. Not getting this until sometime tomorrow it sounds like.

I got it this morning and I was like "working from home is real hard now, STOP TEMPTING ME."

Anyways, I'm gonna play some, I think. Like, now!

On World 4 now, and it's amazing how much of a joy this is to play. It's also wild in that it serves as a Grand Unifying Theory for all of Mario somehow.

Same & same. I’m taking my time and clearing out the green stars in early worlds. It feels like 3D Land, but with more setpiece areas.

Bowser’s Fury is great, too. I don’t know why, but the levels being next to each other makes it feel really different. Diving off a tower & running over to something else entirely is just a great feeling.

Having cleared Bowser's Fury with the minimum allowed number of shines and I am convinced it is going to be a world-class speedrunning game.

I'm only a little ways into Bowser's Fury, but, uh... since it has online, we may have just beaten 3D World (rolled credits, no special worlds) during Extra Life last night/this morning. It's honestly shorter than I remembered? But I also got everything when I played it solo on Wii U, and we didn't stress TOO much about every star in every stage, much less every stamp.

EDIT: ALSO, HEY, PSA HERE - If you play online and you're not the host, you don't get any of the progress. I literally beat the game, but since Matchstick was hosting, when I load up my own game, not even world 1-1 is cleared. Which is, ya know, a little frustrating, but Nintendo has sucked at online forever, so I guess nothing new here.
