Wait, the Mario Battle Royale is a limited release? As in, after March, we won't be able to play it anymore? Whut
I'm hoping it'll be like Tetris 99 which was only available for NSO subscribers for a while until a retail version was released a couple of months later. The limited availability for 3D All Stars is weird, but I've never played 64 or Sunshine so I'm grabbing that collection as soon as I can.

Also, we're getting a brand new Mario themed Splatfest next January

Super Mario Bros 35 seems like something that I will enjoy immensely. My knee-jerk reaction to the idea that it will go away after a while is nerd rage and gamer tears.

But then I stop and remember that nothing lasts forever, and that I should instead turn my focus to enjoying it while it lasts.

It's good that they've added All-Stars to Switch online, though it now disappoints me to realize that the version of World up on there still has green mario as its second player, compared to SMAS+W

Very excited to finally get 3D World on the Switch, though I was kinda hoping it would be a fall release. Oh well, at least we know it's coming. The lack of Galaxy 2 in the 3D All-Stars collection is, honestly, quite disappointing. I've always felt Galaxy 2 was more like the second half of Galaxy than a sequel, they really deserve to be together. Also, as great as they both are, I think the second one is a little better than the first. I imagine there will be some sort of add-on eventually that you can get, or else they'll sell it separately later. Anyway, I just replayed Mario 64 this year, so I won't get the collection at launch. Hopefully by the time I do, it'll have its missing piece.

I dunno, Galaxy 2 to me felt less like a sequel to Galaxy 1 than a dry run for 3D Land/World. Most of the areas weren't as open, and the ones that were took less advantage of it.

did i do all of that?

Just... everyone give Sunshine another shot. I still really like that game.

I want a physical edition of the 3D All Stars and will probably pick up the Mario 35 though I am sure to be awful at it!

I've just realized that I'm probably lying to myself here. If there's any chance that these games actually disappear after the window to buy the collection is gone then I'll be super mad, so I'm probably going to pony up while I have the chance. God damn it, Nintendo.

Online multiplayer is good enough to buy Mario 3D World again, the fact that the new levels are juicy enough to save for later... be still my heart

The English text there says "compatible with 2 Joy-Cons controllers" which could mean either "must play with detached Joy-Cons" or "can also play with detached Joy-Cons." But the Japanese text for the same portion would definitely only mean "can also play with detached Joy-Cons," so presumably the latter interpretation is correct.

They're just emphasizing the ability to play it in a way that approximates Wiimotes, not saying it's the only way to play.

Yeah, I highly doubt they would leave Super Mario Galaxy in a state where it was unplayable on the Switch Lite.

Galaxy 2 is one of my favorites, so I choose to assume that it will be DLC.

If the game's available for a limited time would it have DLC that significant?

Galaxy 2 is magnificent, I'm surprised its not here somehow

Something I would want to see but doubt many people care about but still feels odd if they don't include it is the Mario 3D World levels from Captain Toad, which were dropped in the Switch/3DS rerelease. Would be good bonus content.

Lacking access to the physical Nintendo store at work because of COVID is absolutely KILLING me as of now. I feel like I want to get 3D world and 3D All-stars physically/as carts, but I'm not sure I'll have a chance. Might have to just preorder the all-stars at full price from somewhere... :/

I think it's a little funny that even after announcing that there is a limited window during which Nintendo will deign to allow you to buy this collection that people are still speculating that Nintendo couldn't possibly do some other thing that seems weird to them.

Maybe Galaxy 2 will also come out, and maybe they will sell these as singles later. I have no idea. But yesterday if someone told you that the collection would only be available for a limited time even digitally you would probably think that was absurd too.

I am fully confident in Nintendo's ability to do more weird things, and not converting a second game designed for Wiimotes to an alternate control scheme honestly seems much more reasonable to me than making this collection and only selling it for a few months in the first place.

(Even if most of what was done for Galaxy 1 could be applied to Galaxy 2 as well, it still takes labor-hours to actually do it. I hope that they do it too, but it doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility that they didn't/aren't/won't.)

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I have to admit it's a real possibility that the games won't ever be available again on Switch after March 2021. And that really pisses me off! It's a shitty way to treat Mario and it's a shitty way to treat their fans and I'm almost certainly going to fall for it.

I'm sure it was already a lot of work just converting these three games to a Switch collection. Super Mario Galaxy 2 could always come in another (inexplicably limited-time) compilation with New Super Mario Wii and Super Mario 3D Land or whatever.

Anyway, I'll most likely get this compilation within the next six months so I'm not too worried.

Put me on team "they're gonna sell these individually on the eShop for more than $20 after next March."

And yeah, hope they add Galaxy 2 in some capacity eventually, but I'm stoked on it as-is.

They damn well better, but because this is Nintendo, it's not something we can count on.

So people are noticing the estimated file size of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is nearly three times the size of the Wii U version. Note, most of the Wii U to Switch deluxe edition games have actually been smaller due to being able utilize stronger compression algorithms, so Bowser’s Fury may end up being pretty big.
