Steam is still a major force in the video game industry and seems to be used by a lot of Tyrants (including me). We didn't have a thread about it on the new forums so I created this one. (Pithy sub-title suggestions are welcomed - because I've got nothing.)

So my motivation for creating this thread was to talk about a game that I have wish-listed which is in Early Access. I'm not sure if the game warrants its own thread but it is the type of game that I feel is tailor-made for Tyrants.

The game is Solasta: Crown of the Magister. It is a turn-based Tactical RPG based on Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition (via SRD version 5.1).

Here's the Steam store page for it:

Has anyone else heard of this game or anything else about it? It seems to be well-received (based on the reviews on Steam) but I am always reluctant to purchase anything that is in Early Access.

I've never heard of it, but it looks rad as hell, so thanks for bringing it to my attention!

(I don't do early access, but I'll probably pick it up in the first sale after it leaves early access.)

So, how does one go about making a Steam profile private? I can't seem to find the option.

From the storefront:

Click your avatar in the upper right to open your profile.
Click Edit Profile in the upper right area, just under your level.
Click Privacy Settings at the bottom of the list.

Looks like Game Details is the setting you're ultimately looking for, as that controls wishlisted games? Or so it claims.

You might instead be able to accomplish what you're trying to do via a third-party service. There are plenty of other websites that track game prices.

I haven't looked into whether any of them can do it, but it seems worth a try if you're not especially keen on this solution.

I haven't used it myself but it looks like https://isthereanydeal.com/ can do it.

Okay, just switched Game Details to private. Says that includes wish list, so... hey, guess that's what I needed! Thanks again!

Speaking of - I have a big list of steam games I have come across that I think some of you would be interested in (but I did not personally buy, follow or wishlist). Would anyone want me to post that list here? I don't know for sure if any of the games will have demos in the ongoing steam event but they might.

I think that sort of thing usually gets shared in the deals thread? Maybe?

Maybe - but I don't know if any of the games on my list even have a current deal on them (on steam or anywhere).

You can share it with me and I can tell you if I'd like some of them =P Oh! Maybe in the Buy, Sell, Trade thread? Though I've had a huge list of games in that thread forever and never got any comments.

This sounds like something the "Curate" function on steam would fulfill. How hard is it to make yourself a Curator? Anyway, you could add those things to your curated collection and then share your curator link here?

Yeah, I think False is assuming Torzelbaum is giving these games away and not just trying to raise awareness. This is a decent place for “here’s a list of games I think y’all would like” if that is what we are talking about.

I have never heard of this function, this is cool!

That's an interesting idea. I might have to look into it. But I wonder what I would call that list.

Right - I don't have keys for any of these games and the list would just be for raising awareness among the tyrants.

I did some checking on this and in order to become a curator and create lists you either have to be an officer of an existing Steam group or create a new one. I am thinking about creating a new group but I see that one of the things that Steam asks for when you are creating a list is an abbreviation. Does anyone know what that is used for or how it shows up in Steam.

I have gained access to a "Personal Computer" and was wondering if you can have a singular Steam account installed on multiple machines, or do you have to migrate it over?

You can sign into as many computers as you want, as far as I'm aware, though I believe there are some limitations on playing games at the same time. I'm not sure what exactly they are offhand, though. I know the limitations have changed over the years.

Yes, I don't think you can play the same game at the same time on different computers using the same account.

I don't know if anyone else in the Big man family wants to play but you can share games with them:

Speaking of Steam games I stumbled across a couple other games for Tyrants.

The first is an old one which I assume might have been covered in one of Octo's weekly threads since it is also available for Switch (and more) but I couldn't find it.

The game is Chroma Squad. It is a turn based tactical RPG inspired by Power Rangers / Sentai / Tokusatsu. But you are not in the fictional world of one of those - instead you control a group of stunt actors who are trying to start their own TV studio to create a show like those. The graphics look GBA-esque to me (although not as detailed as FFTA) but still serviceable enough.

The other games is so new that it hasn't been released yet - Terror of Hemasaurus. It's pretty much just Rampage with more combat options.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, youse two.

This PC I'm going to use is kind of old, but it should run the 90's point and click adventure games I want to play on it.

I have one more PC gaming query. Trying to play Binding of Isaac with the keyboard control scheme is, for me, akin to the mental exercise of hiding an item from yourself in an imaginary house. I could maybe someday wrap my head around the concept, but I think I really need a controller for action type games. What is the standard for computer gaming controllers?
