Our local “buffet but you can also order a steak” place was called Bonanza and we went there a lot. That is my contribution to this thread.
Been to Bonanza before too! Though most of these buffet places all bleed together. Probably the one I have the most experience with is the Golden Corral, but I don't remember if you can order food or if its just a buffet.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa was also a chain when I was growing up so I guess food people really banked on the enduring popularity of one Western TV series.
Oh yeah that place. Pretty useful if your family or whatever had a picky eater since there just had to be SOMETHING they'd enjoy. And their food [at least regionally] was good for a partial-buffet.
My gawd that ad though. I know its probably meant for trade shows and not public consumption considering the LENGTH, but wow - really is full of meme potential as the day is long.

Ah man, it occurs to me that I don't have a pizza ranch next door anymore. There's a good place to spend thirteen bucks and eat mediocre pizza and fried chicken until you explode.
