Singer Ichiro Mizuki Passes Away at 74
This is going to be a "niche interest" obituary, as most people probably will not recognize that name. But anyone who watched giant robot anime in the 60s and 70s, or Kamen Rider, or Captain Harlock, or a whole host of other famous Japanese programs surely heard his incredible voice, as he sang their memorable theme songs. Mizuki was also a founding member of my favorite band, JAM Project, though he had not performed or recorded with them since 2007.
I can't say his passing comes as a great surprise, as he's looked quite frail since last year. But he loved his music and his fans. and worked tirelessly, performing even up until the week before his death. You may not have heard his name, but we lost a legend.
Take us home, Aniki.
