RIP Dolly Parton

My Mom's family grew up in rural Tennessee and we've always regarded Dolly as a saint. Someone on bluesky posted "My Tennessee Mountain Home" today and I was in tears almost immediately. What a loss to the world.
 
Damn, I had missed that she was having health issues.

I really loved when she did her video promoting the COVID vaccine and called out people who weren't getting it as "chicken squat".
 
People throw around "GOAT" extremely casually these days, but Dolly Parton really was one of the greatest of all time. We're worse off without her.
 
Found Dolly's PSA about getting vaccinated and rewatched it, there's some amazing bits in here. I'd totally forgotten her Jolene riff too.


And don't forget the Imagination Library, 300 million books to children, dang.
