Having the second word pre-revealed took a lot of the challenge out of this one, I got the other two words on my first two guesses.

I mean, what was the whole title for yesterday's puzzle?

Today's was a little frustrating. Thanks to a revealed phrase ("<5T/axle") I got that it was a vehicle by guess 5. After some misses, I filled in some grammar, and finally got that it was some kind of train at 43. And then I guessed everything I could think of to try until I had to look up the answer, and when I finally found it and completed it at guess 128, I slapped myself in the forehead so hard you could hear the rumble for miles.

Oh, right.

Yesterday's answer was:
reporters without borders

I didn't notice that revealed phrase at all so it took me until about guess 80 before I realized the 2nd thing. And then it took about 50 more guesses until I knew the answer but not the word (I had to look that up).

I got today's at 9, on the same path that Paul mentioned. I knew the answer was four letters, but guessing "car" at 7 was really what got me there. For some reason I wasted guess 8 on "truck" even though I knew it wasn't going to tell me anything.

63 today, but I definitely could've gotten it much sooner if I'd guessed Boolean after seeing those operators already revealed in the initial article. Instead I went down a rabbit hole of memory/storage terms.

My spouse and I are doing the joint solving on Unlimited now and we got thrown off by the word in parentheses after we uncovered it. Are there other fields that use the term search engine? We can't think of any.

There's a disambiguation for that answer but it just lists a more specialized / focused version and some unrelated items that just use the same name. Wikipedia's just weird like that.

Also, I got way too distracted by a couple of revealed words and chased a bunch of only tangentiality related loose ends.

208 for me, I had boolean at five and computing at six, but I could not put it together. All the computing terms I could think of were getting nothing and until I hit on the first word at guess 207 I really had no idea.

Now I'm feeling a little better about the 74 guesses I finished in yesterday, even with the meager 33% accuracy, dang.

Today's is another doozie, and not much of a spoiler to say that yes, just as it looks like, it's a disambiguation page. (I think what happened is that one of the articles it links to is on the Vital Articles list, and this disambiguation page has the same name; it's not the first time.)

I got it in 96 by getting an unintended hit on the name of one of the albums, so I looked up the album, confirmed the artist with another guess, then looked at the tracklist and found my 5-letter word.

If anyone wants hints for this one, I think that's reasonable

Good god, today's was brutal. 220 guesses, but I eventually got it once again in the exact same way Paul did.

I got it in 96 by getting an unintended hit on the name of one of the albums, so I looked up the album, confirmed the artist with another guess, then looked at the tracklist and found my 5-letter word.

182, had to do a lot of internet searches to get this one. I had that it could have something to do with social sciences, had a lot of songs and albums and films and TV series from America and the UK and France, had political parties or organisations in the UK, Greece, and the Soviet Union, that it was a place in North Carolina (but not one listed on Wikipedia’s list of North Carolina municipalities), and none of that helped. Eventually I went with the same solution as Paul and lincolnic - I had white revealed in the albums section, so I went to allmusic and searched for albums with white in the title, found the right one and looked at the song titles.

On the other hand, today was another hole-in-one for me, all from the opening paragraph. Could tell it was a dead person, male, most likely American, and then "president of the United States". Not many options after that!

It took me 22 guesses with 86% accuracy to get there, but about half of that was guessing initials. For some reason I was thinking authors first, and then when I got to presidents I was only thinking earlier than FDR.

I danced all around finding matching words (100% accuracy) but it took me a little while to dial in to the answer (46 guesses). But still a lot better than I had been doing the last few days.

Today's took me 147 guesses and I felt like I was banging my head against the wall the entire time. At first I thought it was some kind of religious text, then I got "Protestant church" and some stuff about schools and colleges but that was another dead end. "Evangelical" led me to believe it was some place in America, but after a lot of nothing I guessed "England" and got turned around. Eventually I had to look at a list of churches in London, saw something else that ended in "Army", and that got me the rest of the way. Kind of mad that the answer was what it was after all that wild goose chasing.

109 for me, I feel like I was on the verge of getting it the whole time, though I didn’t feel that way while I was doing it. I thought early on it might be a religion, but I got one hit for that and didn’t think to try “church” until much later. I had “soldiers” revealed, I knew it was some kind of international organisation aimed at helping people, it didn’t seem to be government affiliated, and generally once I had it it was obvious how those things connect. Oh well.

Twelve guesses today, hits on eleven of them. I noticed a lot of commas and full stops with a space on either side in the text, which made me think there were symbols that weren’t being shown, so I guessed mathematics and it fell into place from there.

I didn't notice that but I did notice something similar which had the same impact.

Today was 87, yesterday's was 70-something? I really should've had today's earlier because I definitely queued up the answer on my list of guesses to try and got sidetracked around it until I found enough support to try it again. It's one of those words I end up guessing a lot when science stuff is in play. Also I really should have guessed energy much sooner, since that was the word that clued me in. Sometimes the simplest words are the hardest because I tend to think bigger. Like, I get why this has a page in the encyclopedia, definitely, but I would've expected something like "thermodynamics" over this.

I randomly got it from a guess. It isn't even one I normally use, just was looking for more clues. Got stupidly lucky I guess.

I got it in ten. My first guess was change, which I thought would be the word in the first sentence that was actually energy, but got like thirty hits in the article. Heat was a four letter word that fits with change, so that’s how I got it.

29 for me today. Homed in on some kind of physics thing right away, got a bunch of filler without somehow revealing anything in the first paragraph, guessed the second word ("thermodynamics") and then was able to get the answer from there.

115 today, 38% accuracy. I got that it was a kind of fish by hitting that word at guess 8. A bit before guess 100, I gave up and started googling for examples and it still took a while.

10 today. I had "host animal" by my fourth guess, then found that it wasn't a parasite, insect, virus, or bacterium. "Fish" at 9 was a lucky guess that got me the answer.
