That was so freaking weird. When you have a header that says "signs" and seems like a disease, but then also has sections on eggs and whatnot, I was getting so confused. There wasn't anything big that I got until I guessed "bug", and FINALLY it started clicking into place.

179 guesses, 44.69%. Much harder!

I was certain I had guessed some crucial terms earlier but I guess I hadn't. I think I could have gotten the answer in a lot fewer guesses if I had done that.

About 90 or so words in I had found one of two the words of the article name. I thought I was going to have it easy there, but even with 100 more guesses I wasn't any closer. I was audibly frustrated at this point, so my wife took a quick look at my screen and instantly she was able to give me the correct answer.

In retrospect it should have been obvious.

105 for me, once again had no clue until it suddenly became obvious. I got the phrase “million years” fairly early along with South America and West Africa, which had me thinking about continental drift, but also something about developing and developed countries that didn’t fit with that timeframe. “Species” and then “insects” were the key guesses in the end.

68 guesses, 82%. On a whim, noticing the prevalence of three-letter words, I guessed the first word in this article's title.

As always I will absolutely try to reveal a phrase and once I do will get on the search engines to find articles that match it. 21 guesses, 57.4%. My most common non-title word had 9 matches (meal), and I revealed it after I suspected from searching what the correct answer was. Before that the most common word had 8 matches (most)

109 guesses, accuracy 36.70%

Continuing my pattern of fumbling all over the place until I finally find the one thread to pull which leads me to the answer.

85, 56%. I figured out quickly that it was food-related, but I was searching for a specific dish.

I was gonna play this on my phone while waiting in line for something, and by golly is the mobile interface not designed for small phones like mine.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of century, haven't used it yet as a guess and am going to start doing so.

55 guesses, 36%. Meal (9), honey (8) and served (7) were what got me to the right place. This one was heavy on reading between the redacted material to study prepositions and order which was fun.

85, 56%. I figured out quickly that it was food-related, but I was searching for a specific dish.
I definitely put in the correct answer thinking it would help me narrow down the dish, a happy accident!

Anyway, at this point I think I'm going to join the Patreon for this. It's absolutely worth $5/month to me.

296 for me. I hit on fruit with 17 occurrences with my 64th guess, and not long after took a long trip down dessert wine lane without hitting on the key word in that phrase (I found “fortified” instead. I was pretty sure it was some kind of meal after getting that word at 134, but it took a lot more guesses to get there.

Ok, that felt pretty good. Found this one without any research.

115 guesses, 42.61% accuracy (I'm usually pretty bad at accuracy since I just guess wildly at times). I had guessed material somewhat early, and finally it clicked to start looking into garments and clothing.

Was catching up on this thread and just wanted to remind other readers to be careful clicking on recent spoilers due to the fact that Radactle rolls over at a weird time of day - 11am CDT / 16 UTC, as opposed to most of these games that are at midnight either local or UTC or somewhere in the US...

Anyway I've done 7 of these now and it looks like I'm averaging a bit under 100 guesses. My fastest is 31 for Singapore which just went really well (also had a 80% hit rate, I think I got into directions relative to other places really early), and my slowest is 268 for cicada, ouch, but that was also my first so I guess I hadn't really gotten a handle on it yet.

May 17th- 127 guesses. Highest ones were waist (10), women (14), men (14), made (14), part (14) and century (13), thanks to Olli for that suggestion, ha!

I knew it was something that covered the lower half of the body as of guess 101 but just didn't think of this specific word for a bit.

May 17th took me 194 guesses, because I went on a real wild goose chase into military terms for some reason.

Googling stuff still feels like cheating, so I haven't been.

Solved this in 79 guesses with 51.90% accuracy. Honestly surprised by this result. It's less than half of my recent average, and lower than the average/median for this puzzle (that's a first for me!).

The chain of thought that led me to the answer was essentially "body" -> "part" -> "clothing" -> the answer.

I have noticed the words "this" and "that" often get redacted, and there's usually quite a few of them. Might be useful.

Aha! 45 guesses, 53.33%. Got a little lucky saying "world" when I do my usual hunt for war, then World War, and when that popped up into the title that made me start thinking of which organizations it could be.

Violentvixen

I got really thrown off today, 149 guesses! The fact that Round was uncovered lower in the article at the start and capitalized baffled me. Best words other than the three in the title were rules (16) and member (21).

Tried this for the first time. It took nearly 300 guesses! But, having read some of the early posts and from playing semantle, I was habitually putting in plurals and different forms of every word I guessed. I also threw a lot of small words at it to make sentences clearer, and I also just kinda free-associate words with abandon typically. I also went through some lists of numbers. That really inflates the count, but also, it might not be a bad idea?

I could've sworn I'd guessed the third word of the title earlier, but I guess not! I'd picked up Trade relatively early, but it took a while to land on world. But once that did, it clicked pretty quickly.

Some opening words: History, first, second, century
Any other good strategies people have found or developed?
