Real. And it’s one of the weirder elements of the property. No one involved with the original was involved and it was a Halloween live show that was basically Date Movie/Epic Movie/etc level gags of This Is What Is Happening In Pop Culture This Year. Also it was cancelled in 2013 after allegations of the shows being racist and homophobic.

In one case, I think you deserve some sort of recompense.
I first caught onto the infamous live show from Paul Scheer and... I think Brett Gelman making fun of it in a song from a comedy Christmas album that played on Comedy Bang Bang WAY back when it was Comedy Death Ray Radio and they played comedy and novelty songs between breaks. I didn't get it. It seemed like bad jokes and I had no idea what the game was in 'making fun' of Bill and Ted and it confused me for years. Turns out this was a very inside baseball reference to the Halloween live show.
I am very curious what your reaction was to it.
I love Bill & Ted but the Cereal is the one that throws me.
I've heard the comic book is pretty good. It's by Evan Dorkin who has stated he did it as a work for hire and did not even watch the first film (the second one really feels more like Dorkin energy anyway)
