I guess it depends on the purpose. I can certainly see it having a deterrent effect on photographers.

Furlow, the vaguely midwestern cigar-chomping giant-spanner-wielding engineer from the solar-flare-plagued planet in that one first season Farscape episode and yes OK technically she did appear more than once, but that was a cool surprise when they were really reveling in being more serialized than they initially let on genuinely strikes me as someone who could easily carry a whole spinoff.
