Not Actual Gameplay - The Video Game Trailers Thread

I gotta say, I'm really pleasantly surprised by this year's crop of Game Awards trailers. And a new Okami sequel on top of everything else here too!

Me: Damn, someone is really channeling… hang on…
*does some research*
Oh, okay, that *is* a Haruhiko Mikimoto cover, alrighty then.

For once, The Algorithm did something right and showed me this intriguing thing from the Goose Game folks after I watched the trailer above

Good timing, just last night I was trying to remember what the name of their next project was.

Well be still my Gen-X heart. Totally worked on me. I don't even like beat-em-ups but I'll be getting this sumbitch.

I wonder if it's just random timing or if this is an attempt to remind people of MOTU considering the upcoming movie.

Half that video almost looks like a re-skin of Golden Axe, but that’s hardly a complaint. I’m not much a He-Man fan personally but it looks real nice.

As someone who loves MotU and also beat em ups, I am, indeed, anticipating the beatemup based on Masters of the Universe.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter

Yeah, I didn't pick up on that immediately, but after a rewatch... hell yeah!

The long-awaited R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos has a new trailer, showcasing the redone visual appearance of the games framed around a cinematic based on Operation Bitter Chocolate's opening and box art (which remains one of the greatest subtitles ever). Release date is still TBA, but the fleets are assembling.

Here’s a trailer that might interest fans of punishingly technical platformers (looking at you, @lincolnic):

Funny story: this game is directly inspired by kaizo Super Mario World tech, specifically shell jumps. One of the Rebounder devs (they're a small team, I believe three people?) hangs out in one of my favorite kaizo players' streams, and he said that the idea behind it was "what if shell jumps, but easy". Said streamer (GlitchCat7, also featured in the linked video) was playing a "shareware build" of Rebounder provided by the dev that featured the first 2-3 levels, and it looked super fun and very satisfying to execute. Certainly looked easier than some of the shell kaizo I've seen!

I couldn't try the demo myself as it was PC-only, but I'm definitely looking forward to this one. I think they're aiming to have it on Switch as well!

So it looks like another indie dev is trying to make their own version of Chrono Trigger:
