Part of me wouldn't put it past these two to take 'em for all their brocoins then dump 'em off to either make like Gilligan's Island or die.
I once read that the jpeg monkeys being tacky is part of the con - just like typos in spam Nigerian Prince letters. People who don't have the critical skill to suspect a dozen typos in a letter, or how dumb a bunch of serialized monkey jpgs are, will also lack the critical skills to tell the signs of a con. Is like natural selection, but inverse, and only the dumbest will survive the cull to become marks.

Well, if they’re fleecing rubes in order to give the money to charity, I’d view it as a net postive.
It’s way worse than whatever it is you imagined.
Yeah, honestly this is about the same as donating a bunch of money to NPR and getting a tote bag. It's unnecessary fluff but probably one of the least objectionable uses of NFTs I've seen so far. If dabbling in buzzwords gets a few more people to donate to a good cause, sure, go for it.

I think the environmental impact of the NFTs themselves still makes this more harmful than an NPR tote, though.
There is that. I think there are some blockchains out there that don't use the same egregiously energy-intensive "proof of work" system as the big foo-coins, which might not end up being any worse than manufacturing physical tchotchkes, but you'd have to be careful about it (which most places latching onto the buzz-words probably aren't gonna bother being).

What are the chances they’ll sell NFTs of games vs just selling dumb monkey pictures?
Is an NFT of a game a thing you can even do?
Since a NFT is just an encrypted receipt pointing to an URL (no joke, no exaggeration) yes, you could do an NFT for a game and it'd be just as legit as the NFT for a monkey JPG.
I hate that I even know this much about this crap now.
