Netflix: Flicks? On the Internet? That's just crazy talk!

That article says the episode will be an hour long, and since it's Netflix I'm assuming that's a full hour, not 40 minutes plus ads. Between that and season 2 supposedly already in the works. I think it's mathematically impossible for this to just be purely be straight remake of the original.

Not that it can't be remakes of the original episodes plus ~40 minutes of prestige TV padding, but good lord I hope it's not that...

I really don't know if this is going to be good or not. The animation looks quite good in that angular CG kinda way but the LoL tie in just makes things weird. They're trying to do this gritty dystopian steampunk thing and then there's Heimerdinger just hanging out in the middle of the trailer being a 2 foot tall ball of fur. I'm planning to watch it for visual spectacle alone - it'd just be nice if it was also a decent story to go along with it. Or barring that, terrible enough I can laugh at it.

Now I'm assuming the show proper isn't going to go full on Edgar Wright Scott Pilgrim/Wachowskis Speed Racer like that, but that would be wild if it did.

I think it's got promise! But also potentially got red flags. I hope that John Cho smiles more than he does in this. Spike is frequently a miserable curmudgeon, but he's also got a devious side and is frequently hedonistic. The guy can smile! His pain is mostly hidden under layers, and only really shows itself on his face when shit gets real. Also, I think it's noteworthy and maybe even alarming that there's not a single new song, or even an edit or a remix in that teaser. It's all just a straight lift from the tv show and film's OST. Maybe that's not indicative of the show as a whole, but it's been my fear for a while that they'd just reuse all of the music and not even attempt anything new, and this teaser wasn't helping with that fear.

I refuse to Click Play on that video. I will instead patiently wait to be exposed to it as a badly compressed Meme Edit on twitter AS GOD INTENDED.

That would actually be hilarious because I don't think Bebop ever used a single speedline background.

Yeah, it's obviously just riffing on the OP's iconic multi-panel look, which works for ultra-compressed quick cuts in a short teaser but I can't see extending to an entire episode.

Now I'm picturing a version of a LA Cowboy Bebop that uses comic book panels like Ang Lee's Hulk.

more importantly; regular Cowboy Bebop also just showed up on Netflix (in Canada, at least).

So regardless of how the remake winds up being; I got mine!

Still on hulu in the US, I think. I’ve been slowly making my way through it. Pretty good show, who would have guessed.

There's just a really bizarre uncanny valley thing going on right there. Where the voices sound perfect. Like, this is MY Bebop. (I watched the show subbed before it broadcast on TV back in the day; the JP voices are the voices of these characters in my memories/brain.) Yamadera sounds like he hasn't missed a single beat. Hayashibara sounds like she's 25 years older, but it's still her and she knows her character. They define them. But their voices just don't fit how the actors are emoting at all. It just makes the show feel even more weirder and off, like they actors don't fully know who they're playing. I'm sure that's not fully the case at all, but I can't help but feel that way. I'd love to watch the show dubbed, but I don't think I'd be able to handle it. At least on a first watch thru.

Watched the first couple episodes of Inside Job, new thing by some gravity falls folks. Workplace comedy set in the secret company that controls the world.

Pretty good, less cynical Rick and Morty-alike. I like Brett and Reagan, don’t particularly care for any of the side characters on their team.

Netflix released a proper trailer for their Bebop show:

I'm gonna hold off on anymore prognostications before watching it. All of the music in this trailer is pre-existing Bebop music still but it's at least been re-orchestrated. This trailer looks uh... it looks.

I like the new trailer; it is certainly less tiresome than the previous 'Lost Session.' I still don't see a reason to watch this when the anime is right there. (literally now, as it is on Netflix).)

It looks fine? Honestly I got more enjoyment listening to TANK! again than the actual trailer. Probably means it's time to queue up the soundtrack again.

Squid Game was rilly rilly good.

I got spoiled on who the creator of the games was, by accident, and correctly figured out who the Front Man was.

Look, I'm not saying you're wrong. But that tweet is from screenrant and wrong is pretty much their default state.

At this point I am strongly inclined to believe that I won't like live action Bebop, but, to get more specific about why the Screenrant article (as presented in that tweet) isn't particularly meaningful beyond "Screenrant bad":

That's just someone's speculation based on the same trailers we've all seen. I already know that I don't like the trailers! Someone's guess that maybe it will be like Deadpool based on the trailers I've already seen and know that I don't like isn't really giving me any reason to feel better or worse about this.

The main information that article (as presented in that tweet) conveys is that the author of the article hopes that live action Bebop will be like Deadpool, and thinks that would be a good thing, if it were true. I strongly disagree with everything they're saying, but either way it's not telling me anything new about this show I think looks terrible.

edit: edited to reflect that i am assuming the tweet BEAT shared is an accurate representation of the article
