I'm trying to remember - didn't Jasu yell at / call out Merry for something like what she said in the last panel?
Yeah, Jasu said this exact line to Merry right before telling Merry she had a husband. She did that under the pretense of trying to help Merry fix some of her more childish tendencies (Merry used to have kind of a bad habit of twisting other people's words around to get them to feel sorry for her).
Maybe "pretense" isn't entirely a fair thing to say, but Jasu clearly wasn't just doing that entirely for Merry's benefit.
I'll be honest, a lot of how Jasumati acts throughout the comic kinda rubs me the wrong way (she seemed to pretty consistently treat Merry with some level of contempt, or at least like she kinda looked down on Merry a little bit, despite claiming to consider her a friend, for example), but to me that's also just a testament to how well-written these characters are, and I still love her as a character.
This all some good shit, basically.

Yes, there it is. So maybe Jasu treated Merry in such a harsh way because she saw in her a similar issue to her own.
That's a very fair point! I think she's still basically a decent human being that has flaws and has made some mistakes.
