You remember the Mega Man cartoon, right? Cut Man often taunts Mega Man by claiming he'll "cut him into paper dolls," and it just feels like such a lame retort. Was that supposed to be threatening or something? I mean, Needle Man doesn't threaten Mega Man with embroidery.

I watched this earlier, and it pretty much matches my own thoughts on the two games:

The original Xtreme was decent, if not good for what it was and for its time, but in this day and age, offers so very little beyond a couple of unique bosses and a dab of lore. Meanwhile, the sequel just goes all out with new stages, new attacks and patterns for the Mavericks, new weapons, a more involved story, and just... well, if they hadn't decided to reuse the 8 Mavericks, it just could have practically been a whole new game, Mega Man X3.5 or something.

Incidentally, when these came along, I was a little disappointed that they didn't adapt the MegaMissions cards, since those took place between games the way MM GB games do, and bring back past foes, but they had updated designs that were neat. The long tusks on Flame Mammoth was always a favorite of mine:

He has huge blades for weapons, what other G-rated things can he say?

They probably didn't want Cuts to say anything that would offend the littlest of children watching (or worse, their parents). I think Mega Man started airing on Saturday mornings, so +2 Dummy Bears points right there.

Well, there was "cutting you to bits will be SHEAR delight!" I thought that was a pretty good taunt.

In light of the commentary on cartoon Cut Man...

(As a few of the comments mention, I'm delighted by how the Rolling Cutter's power is inversely proportional to how much control Cut Man currently has over it).

The Wily Wars is weird mechanically and visually, but I had a lot of fun with Wily Tower. Makes me want some massive Mega Man game that combines 1-6 and just lets you pick a load out for each level. I don't even care if it's balanced or works, it's just really fun to see the different ways you can advance through the level depending on the back of tricks you pulled from previous games.

Mega Man Game I have always wanted: some kind of mesh of Mega Man 1-6 + 9 +10 + Mega Man 7/8/& Bass "demaked" to 8-bit style + Mega Man V with the same Wily War "choose your eight weapons" loadout options. Add some kind of "time trials" and "points" modes so it can be more of a "beat these optional challenges" situations, and then call it a day. Maybe a mode where, after beating eight robot masters, a randomized collection of five wily stages is available. Just do it, Capcom.

(Also, I just want to see a gigantic Mega Man stage select screen with 100 robots...)

Back when I had pie-in-the-sky dreams of modern remakes of the original Mega Man games, I imagined being able to use the save data on your memory card (that's how far back we're talking here) to carry weapon data over to subsequent games.

Neo Geo Pocket Color title Rockman Battle & Fighters is now, inexplicably, available on Switch. It is untranslated.

Yeah, that's wild. I saw the trailer pop up in my YouTube feed, but I kind of assume there's going to be another collection of these, so I'm waiting.

You're right Shakewell, they announced a Pocket Selection V. 2 the same day haha. No games confirmed yet but this is very likely.

Sonic Pocket Adventure is essentially the only other NGPC game I particularly care about getting a re-release. That's not to say there isn't plenty more good stuff; there absolutely is. But Sonic on Neo Geo Pocket is legit as hell and I'd love to see it make a return

Agreed. My pie-in-the-sky is a translation of Card Fighters 2, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Coming soon

This has been in development hell for almost 4 years but it's finally close to done. Nearly 170 levels were submitted with dozens of brand new Robot Masters (you can see a clip of mine in there) so for a lot of reasons this has taken awhile.

There will be a stream with the results this weekend and the game itself will be another little while yet, but hopefully it will be ready for this year's MegaMas.

The results streamed yesterday and a copy of the entire (eight hour) stream is now on youtube. You can see my entry in the timestamp below:

29th place out of 176! Quite happy with that.

The entire package of all the levels plus extras will be available once they're done with all the final elements and polish.

I playtested Spoony's level, so in many ways, I feel like I also came in 29th place

Just recalling that special moment in Mega Man X8 when they reveal the dumbest plot twist in a Mega Man game, and that's even next to Mega Man 6's robot tourney holder Mr. X and certainly not Doctor Wily. What's the point of using Sigma bodies to cushion yourself during space travel? There were literally no other designs for sturdier space travel you could use? Your astronaut suits all have to look like Robot Hitler? Who's writing this shit? I thought Mega Man X was supposed to be the more mature Mega Man for adults, and you're insulting my intelligence with such a dumb plot convenience. How many all of you suspected betrayal near the end?
