It's close enough that I think you can decide that it's a modified version of Anakin's engine if you prefer, or an engine of a similar make if you don't.

Yeah. They probably wanted it to be a bike modified from a podracer engine, and the only real way to effectively communicate that without exposition is to base it on something recognizable as a podracer engine.

Said it in the other Star Wars thread, but gettin' real sick of Baby Yoda's shit. That shit today was horrifying not endearing.

Rest of the episode was a lot of fun. As was frogmom. And I really liked the rickety ship hobbling off at the end. But Baby Yoda was some big yikes.

I don't think that was supposed to be endearing.
They keep playing whackadoo music like it was very intentionally coded to be whimsical/funny, but it was mostly just disturbing and upsetting!

The one at the end I was half-expecting the screen to shrink down into a circle around Baby Yoda as he ate the last one and for some Looney Tunes music to play us out. I hope someone makes an edit like that.

New ep was OK- entertaining, but if it wasn't Star Wars I wouldn't care. Mostly bummed that there was no continuation of a Fett-related storyline.

The fish egg thing bugged me a bit too- the frogwoman kept stressing how this was the last of her line and Baby Yoda was just... gobbling em down. I guess that's one way that Baby Yoda is Not Daigoro- he acts like a real toddlee. He hasn't yet really expressed or inherited a respect for the sanctity of life, he's more of just a lil' rascal, a scamp, if you will

While I agree Baby needs to learn boundries, that was textbook toddler behavior. At least they were unfertilized eggs.

Conflict is interesting and obstacles make for good stories. Mando having to deal with x-wings and the cold and spiders and baby yoda eating the eggs is the story. If Baby Yoda’s only role was to be cute then it would be egregious, but him being a source of trouble for our protagonist makes for a fun show to watch.

Still a gigantic violation of that ladyfrog. She intended to make babies with them, and that's her last shot.

Breh, there's a big difference between wanting to play with the shiny knob on the control panel, and preying on a woman's vulnerable offspring. The scene at the end where frogmom is clutching her remaining brood with fear while baby yoda all but licks his lips is fuckin' disgusting shit.

While I found the blase treatment of egg-eating kinda weird I dunno if anyone should be calling a [nevertheless fictional] infant's actions a "violation."

That said I found the contrast between Mando's humane treatment of the raiders in Ep 1 and his kinda dismissive attitude towards the frogmaiden inconsistent. Maybe he was just being pragmatic.

Mando with the froppy was a great part of the episode. He wasn't happy about the entire gig (rightfully so, since it put him into the kind of danger that he immediately found himself in) and his impulse to be dismissive was I think natural. But once she found her voice, he softened up remarkably and started taking her pov seriously. It was some good heart-of-gold stuff.

The ice spiders don't make a lot of sense, but they were 10/10 spooky and did their job of being some intense spooks, so that was great.

I don't feel great about attributing human infancy to Baby Yoda when the kid is officially dubbed "The Child" not "The Infant" and he's also older than Mando is. Even if you do, it's still absolutely horrifying stuff regardless. Imagine it's not an ugly frog but a regular looking human going through the same/similar issues, would you not be horrified by what Baby Yoda was doing to that mother-hopeful?

Also of note, and I cant Believe it’s not what everyone’s talking about with this show; Amy Sedaris is friends with a giant ant named Dr. Mandibles.

Yeah, I was saying to Mrs Phantoon that Star Wars is really goofy, and that was wonderfully goofy episode.

I don't quite understand how the Child is quite so young still. He's like a toddler in motility but he's 50. If Yoda's lifespan was average he's the equivalent of a four year old. If Yoda is old for his species (which is implied) it's weirder still.

Also one of the New Republic pilots looked so familiar to me and it was driving me nuts, and then I learn he was the star of CBC series Kim's Convenience who is a lifetime fan of Star Wars, so that's cool as hell.

I was wondering how he got that gig at all, but then I remembered that one of his co-stars is going to be Shang-Chi so I guess he got in Disney's door that way.

This kind of thing doesn't really scale 1:1 even among species on Earth. Dogs are in their "30s" for like 60% (or something) of their lifespan, for example. Alien biology is weird.

Please chill out a bit about the toddler eating eggs, Yodito’s life stage is being modeled off a real toddler’s lack of sense and boundaries, I assure you.

Yeah, toddlers have no conscience whatsoever. It's a fairly accurate representation of them. Kids don't develop empathy until about seven.

Baby Yoda is still the worst, which is part of why this week's episode was fun because
dumb little kid got hit with the facehugger

Overall really good episode this week. I'm sure it meant more to fans of the Clone Wars tv show, but to this person who is only tangentially aware of it, it was still a good ride. Mando should be more like this, and less like whatever was last week.

It's funny because Bo-Katan was herself part of what was a radical splinter group until they successfully took control of the Mandalorian government as part of the very complicated story of Mandalore during the Clone Wars.

Enjoyed the new one a lot! Though Sackhoff seems a bit young for Bo-Katan, who was active in the Clone Wars like 30 years ago by this time.

Sabine could still show up, since she and Ahsoka were heading off to look for Ezra at the end of Rebels.

As a person whose current friend group is composed largely of Church Nerds, I was so jazzed when the episode before last officially established that the canonical response to "may the Force be with you" is "and also with you."
