I assume it's open to interpretation. But the latter is the more interesting interpretation.

Also I spent most of the episode being like

I have to assume

Mando thought he was doing the Leap of Faith thing from Last Crusade, and didn’t stop to think that the planet was blasted to glass and full of psychopathic monsters and that maybe there actually was just a big hole there.

But I was kinda half hoping Bo would toss off some info about what it used to be before it went mad in the ruins or something.

My wife and I spent that whole sequence wondering whether the thing was the same species (or culture, or whatever) as General Grievous.

Also, it was a shame that Katee Sackhoff was clearly having no fun whatsoever in that episode.</s>

Yeah but the bug guy was definitely missing a few pieces and looked to be a tiny fleshy bit hacked off a much bigger guy so… maybe

Mythosaurs are dang huge. Also is it just me or did the cyborg's bipedal rig look like a Rahkshi from Bionicle?

The droid body looked similar but Grievous's whole thing was not a product of his culture or species. He was basically scraped out of a crash site and purpose-built by the Separatists.

The part of today's Mando that dealt with Mando was fun. It was unfortunately not very long.

The part of today's Mando that didn't deal with Mando was very interesting, but also I fell asleep during. I also don't really get what it was trying to say/do but whatever.

I was very confused about how this episode of Mando was trying to set something up. What would her motivations possibly be for setting up the doctor? She needed him to go to the Imperial ship to put science stuff in a suitcase? Maybe she didn't know what kind of science stuff to get??? Help

None of that really made sense. Nor did applying mind altering punishment without due process or even hearing the guy out. Or without any doctors or even technicians present. They just leave him with the machine on, with another rehab patient to look over him? What are they even saying here? That the Republic is just as bad as the Empire? IDGI.

She's

still working for the Empire. Pershing was the guy behind Gideon's evil plot and losing him set it back. She got him to give her everything they needed to finish then wiped his brain so he can't help or even tell the New Republic.

Also, while the New Republic intends to do well, many of the people in it lived much of their lives under the Empire, and old habits die hard

Finally saw the season opener. I feel like I see think piece headlines saying "Well The Mandalorian kinda looks weak next to Andor" but I got what I wanted from it. Baby Yoda doing Baby Yoda things. Djin looking grumbling and making plans. Only issue is it feels like he's had about three GTA mission cut scenes but no missions. I'm not even sure the order he's supposed to do things in right now. Overall, though, it's a small complaint. Because the dumb baby is trying to hug a tiny mechanic and Carl Weathers is just doing "news for the hard of hearing" bit. I'll take it.

Yeah bit of a baby/bathwater situation there with materials. Mind you, the Imperial era ships ARE resource sinks and I would also scrap/recycle those logistic black holes ASAP. I would, however, strip out anything and everything that could be reused or repurposed.

The comparisons to Andor are silly, as if the shows weren't largely in production at the same time, with different writing teams. Of course Mandalorian S3 isn't going to be more like the show it's not a continuation of.

re: salvage and scuttling of ships, I'm sure the plan is to get to everything, but I'd imagine weapon systems are the first priority in disarming warships.

I did find the practice of giving rehabbed Imperials a special badge and serial number name pretty questionable. But if the New Republic was in the business of making good choices it probably wouldn't have fallen to the FO after denying there was any threat and sidelining Leia. Like Luke's ultimatum for Grogu, it's an indicator of things to come.

One needs to remember that in the galaxy's very long history, the Empire is a blip, an aberration. One they probably want to forget ASAP. I imagine if the Communist regime in China were to collapse, you'd see something very similar.

Yeesh, I was already trepidatious about the writing this season ("Now that's using your head."), but now they're going to use it to explain the somehow in "somehow palpatine returned." Blegh.

They're going to do what the Clone Wars did,

and fix the problems in the current trilogy.

Or at least attempt to

I think their way is kinda dumb.

Nah man, you have to wear a hat at all times and if you take it off you have to swim with a dinosaur, and donate all your metal to an orphanage.

What’s weird about that?

Odds are certain traditions had foundations in necessity, like keeping your appearance secret also allowed you some anonymity between missions or jobs. But as often happens with a society this old, the original purpose was subsumed into a religious practice that ignores practicality.

They’re pretty…

numb to the sheer amount of dead children they’ve acquired over time because of them, and seem pretty shocked that they brought one back alive
