July 2026 New Games Thread

Violentvixen

(She/Her)
The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).
  • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here are lists of upcoming games:
Here are the subscription service lists for this month:

Feel free to post other lists or list videos that you find useful.
If there is already a thread on TT about a game, please add a link to it.

Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.

I am horrifically bad at rhythm games but Rhythm Heaven Groove comes out on the 2nd and I know Lumber will be playing it.

Very curious to see how Halo: Campaign Evolved turns out, I have a lot of concerns about it but it is one of my favourite games series so can't help wanting to know more about it. I have Gamepass for a while longer so likely checking it out through that.

i ordered switch carts for culdcept begins and the m2 goemon collection for this month but the former got delayed till september so i'm feeling kinda cooked unless i can get vgp to let me cancel it lol. oh well! raiders and kyoto xanadu are also kind of interesting to me but i will...probably wait and see a bit

I'm definitely getting Rhythm Heaven Groove, the latest game in the Rhythm Heaven series. It's been over a decade since the last one of these and during that time I resolved to finally play one.

I'll probably snag Splatoon Raiders (undecided), a singleplayer-only Splatoon spinoff.

I decided not to double dip on Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok, having gotten enough of that game the first time around, but for those of you who haven't, know that it's a good time. Switch 2 version runs at a meager 30FPS, which made the decision easier for me. It's an action RPG featuring characters from the mobage it spun off from, with an extraordinary variety among the characters' play styles. The base release settled into a co-op multiplayer endgame mega-grind somewhat akin to Monster Hunter, and this expansion adds (among other things) a singleplayer-focused endgame mega-grind to go along with it.

Only thing on the docket this month is Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced. One of the best AC games and it'd be my favorite if Odyssey didn't exist. (AC: Odyssey is so good, y'all. Kassandra forever.) Ubisoft never quite nailed naval combat like they did with Black Flag; that Skull & Crossbones blunder pales in comparison.

I played and finished the original Black Flag in 2013, and I think I'm ready to reacquaint myself with some sea shanties. Shame that the Freedom Cry DLC wasn't also remade.

Oh, I almost forgot. The very end of the month will see the Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition upgrade pack for Switch 2. I can finally replay XBC2 and not have it look like six-month old gumbo I found while cleaning out the fridge. Presumably.

Veritas Tales: Witch of the Dark Castle is Yoshio Nishimura of Vanillaware pedigree making a gamebook RPG.

70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X remasters and makes globally available the 1999 PlayStation curiosity, with all its copious animation cels containing the in-game episode openings, endings, eyecatches and commercials restored from the original material. As a piece of multimedia art, it's a showpiece.

Blue Reflection Quartet collects the entirety of the series... somewhat, as the anime series and mobile game have been adapted into condensed summary forms aligning with the console material instead of their original formats. To note, the series consists of: 1) a leering, mostly mindnumbing debut entry with some of the most spectacular boss setpieces and music the medium has ever witnessed 2) a wheel-spinning and tonally confused animated series 3) a mobile game that slotted in a male POV protagonist, fundamentally damning the project from the outset 4) the greatest magical girl RPG ever made, and one of the shining stars of the 2020s. Make of that track record what you will.

Digimon: Time Stranger is number 1 with a bullet for me; its built more on the exemplary Cybersleuth games than the rest of the series and overall is more of a Pokemon-by-way-of Persona as a result.

Dungeon Antiquia is pretty much tailor made for me; a roguelike dungeon crawler that uses NES-style FF games as a point of inspiration.

Oh man, main characters voiced by Akira Kamiya and Hayami Shou. I'm having flashbacks.

XeGrader plus is Hydlide creator and current M2 staff Tokihiro Naito doing what he does best in keeping the old video game mystique that he helped create alive. It's a secret-laden puzzle shooting game, originally released in 2024 with PC-8001mkII specifications, following with a 2025 MSX2 version, and now this faux-16-bit revision; the older versions are available as DLC. Skipmore and Tadahiro Nitta round up the extremely talented development team on art and music duties.
