Chalk up 10 more from 20XX plus 2 from an attempt that died quickly. If the Astral Twins each count separately, that's two more (for a total of 14).

That’s 484, plus Harpuia, Fafnir, Phantom, Leviathan, Hanumachine and That Beetle Guy from Zero

So I guess it’s really 490.

Gonna call Copy X beaten too, after banging my head against the wall for a half hour beating his second, less Robot Master-y form.

Zero 1 is one of those games that acts like the broccoli that gets in the way of your ice cream

Knocked out Mega Man 2 in a 1CC, no E-Tank run on Difficult. I also tried to not use Metal Blade much at all - I literally left Metal Man for last - and only used it in the boss rush at the end. I also didn't short-circuit some of the tougher challenges like the disappearing blocks in Heat Man's stage. Most of my deaths right up to the Wily Machine were of the dumb variety (missing the initial jump in Quick Man's stage with the laser beams, jumping too soon in Wily 3 on the fake floor, and also letting go of the ladder in the moving platform area and falling into the spike pit in Wily 3 as well). Wasn't planning on a no E-Tank run until I realized I hadn't used one until the Wily Machine, and I lost like seven lives there before finally getting it down.

Anyway, eight more for the total!

Just did a run through Mega Man 2 that was the exact opposite of Sarge's: Normal mode, died a lot, used several E-tanks, spammed Metal Blade like there was no tomorrow. Yet I, too, have 8 more Robot Masters to contribute to the festivities.

507!

That means that whoever Nich took down first was the Robot Master who scared Santa the most!

We did it! Santa has been saved. But the never ending battle will continue until every evil robot is defeated.

Fight, Talking Time, for A Merry Christmas!

Played through Rockman 3 Winternight, a hack featuring snow, twinkling stars, and cold color pallets. Def the least of the hacks I've played, featuring very much stereotypical haphazard enemy placement and level design. The main gimmick is speed. Mega Man sprints at twice his normal pace and can jump the length of the screen. Makes for a frantic, tank heavy playthrough. MVP is Top Spin as many I-frames and no knockback means pirouetting through the stages is not only the the most effective tactic but also the most fun. The weapon changes in general boil down to "the same but with all their weaknesses fixed. For example, Shadow Blade is just Metal Blades now. I find this kind of design fairly boring. The most interesting change is that the Doc Robot stages are now mashups of two of the regular stages. It's pretty interesting, but in general the new stage themes aren't super interesting. Snake Man now lives in a forest instead of a Snake Tower. Sure, it makes sense, but at what cost? Still, the game is looks very nice. But on the whole I wouldn't recommend it, even with the Megamas appropriate chilly theming.

8 Robot masters and 4 Doctor Robots please.

Mega Man 7 down! Fun game! Low points: Slash Man's fight is a drag, and the wily capsule fight... MAN it's hard. But other than that, it's awesome.

I started to play Mega Man 3 and smashed Snake Man, Gemini Man, and Needle Man. Then I picked Hard Man’s stage because I thought he was weak to needles and didn’t remember until I got to him that no, it’s magnets. And I had six lives to grind down until I could go back to the stage select again, and the one good-faith attempt I made to beat him with the buster didn’t even get close, so I got bored and went to do something else.

3 more RMs for the pile!

As a MM4 hack Rockman 4 Voyage is going to draw comparisons to Minus Infinity, but while it's not as expansive as that game famously is, it's just as polished, original, and loads of fun. I guess the title comes from that it incorporates elements from every classic game, including stuff from MM9 and 10, along with plenty of original and interesting ideas, and 40-ish new music tracks. Unusual for a hack, it keeps its difficulty along the lines of the official games, a much welcomed change of pace. Overall polished, clean, and fun. Recommended.

10 more RMs down

What's Shenmue?
I played through X4 as Zero. It was tough; it took me a good while to acclimatize to his style of play, and getting my positioning right so I wasn't always bumping into foes or letting them bump right into me. I've never had a harder time just getting on the board— I tried four Mavericks before finding one I could beat. But after that, it became entirely manageable.

That's eleven bots, by my reckoning (eight mavericks + Colonel + Iris + Sigma), bringing the forum's total to a cool 555.

Running tally:
MMX (10), MHX (10), X4 (11)

Mega Man 8 is done. Overall a good game. I like the aesthetic. Aqua Man making a rainbow that spells out "AQUA MAN" is really great. I genuinely enjoy the budget late 90s voice acting. The weapons all have interesting uses, like using the tornado to get some extra vertical, or bouncing on the mega ball for the same reason. On the downside, there's multiple vehicle stages (4 by my count; two snowboard levels and two shmup levels), and they REALLY ramped up the difficulty of the already un-fun vehicle stages in the wily stages... which left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. Also, just gotta say, why do they make Tengu Man, the robot master who is flying thru the air 90% of the fight, weak against a weapon that only moves along the ground? And the homing missle, why does it seem to select a target at complete random, including the invulnerable spheres that orbit Astro Man (who is btw weak to homing missle)? The fuck, y'all.

Anyway! I still maybe like the game more than Mega Man 1, and probably more than most the X games!

Alright, Mega Man 9 down as well. I'm not ashamed to admit I abused the hell out of the "checkpoint save" feature of the legacy collection for the Twin Devil fight. Once I got a handle on its pattern, it became fairly manageable. The trick for me was realizing I need to jump over 4 blobs in a row, 3 separate times, within one cycle of the pattern, and that the first jump happens at like... 4 blobs in. (These are notes I will need for next Megamas)

Put another 8 robots in the books.

I am ripping thru some Megaman today. Circumstances are such that I cant do much but twiddle my thumbs for the next while, so.. mega man 1 out of the way as well. 6 robot masters + 1 mega man clone. And that wraps up all the classic mega man games!
