Day 13: "Dune"

Silly one today. My brother asked me to do SpongeBob but I thought this would be funnier (and I love Adventure Time...). Something I learned: trying to apply an even coat over a broad area with Copic markers is hard. I'll have to practice that.

Here’s day 15: “Outpost”

This is, once again, from a shmup, but it’s a pretty obscure one.

Looks vaguely familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Has a sort of John Berkey + Gundam White Base vibe going on.

Are the stars in this (and the sparkles in your awesome day 2 Wisp) white ink overlaid, or do you have some technique for skipping little specks while filling in the black?

It's one of the stations/ships that you visit in between stages in Silpheed (PC-88/DOS). Playing it back in the day, I always assumed it was some kind of refueling platform, but after taking a closer look when drawing it, it does appear to be an actual ship. The fact that I didn't shade it definitely gives it a resemblance to White Base.

For the stars/sparkles/water droplets/etc, I use a Uni Ball Signo white ink pen. Trying to get a good star field or dust cloud by leaving specks of the paper white would be a nightmare, haha. They're pretty handy for detail work like specular highlights in the eyes or small particles and the like. They're not perfect, though -- the ink isn't completely opaque once it dries, and it's particularly bad about absorbing some of the pigment from alcohol based markers.

Incredible and professional work, Reg! I could see that Demon Wall showing up in official materials.

Thanks! As an artist with pretty bad confidence issues, that really means a lot.

Here's day 19: "Dizzy"

"Dizzy" is an repeat of one of the prompts from Inktober 2019. I drew another character named Dizzy that time. Both of these Dizzys are presumably named after the same real-life Dizzy. Weird!

Day 20: "Coral"

Reef Walker Korallion, Knight of the Shoals

Not really finished, but it's late, so I stopped at the lineart. I might come back to this later.

This one is Original the Character, made up last night when I couldn't think of anything interesting to do for "Coral". I'm pretty happy with it, unfinished as it is. It's been a while since I've done any character design. I might develop this one further. Maybe a new D&D character.

Can anyone identify all of the ocean adornments on the armor?

Hah, good to take a closer look, I had totally missed things like the Horseshoe crabs.

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption

It’s the perfect defence!

I certainly would be reluctant to take a swing at a guy with that many horseshoe crabs on his person

That's pretty cool.

Would give you a chance to try out an aquatic elf / sea elf.

Can anyone identify all of the ocean adornments on the armor?
Probably not but I can try.

I think that's Branch coral coming out the back of the helmet.
So the round piece that "connects" the breastplate to the shoulder - isn't that a sand dollar?
Those hip guards look like sea turtle shells to me.
The knee guards look sort of like an angular blobfish to me but maybe that's just pareidolia.
The part over the forearm is tickilng the back of my brain but I can't connect to it anything.

I totally missed the horseshoe crab pieces until Kirin pointed them out.

And I assume we're all not mentioning the scallop breastplate just because it's obvious.

The segmented bits on the forearms and under the knees could be some sort of crustacean tails but I'm not sure. For the knee itself the bits coming out the side of the one closest to us are reminding me of one of those undersea worms with fronds for filter-feeding, or just a barnacle, but not sure there either. And is the underlying mesh in place of chainmail just a fishnet, or is that something alive too? Maybe a sea-fan bit.

Regulus

Sir Knightbot
Spot on with most of those. The vambrace is based on a lobster tail, and the poleyns are based on the lionfish. There's also the shark-shaped visor that Mommi pointed out, and the couter/elbow joint is based on a sea snail shell. Also the scallop shell, but that one is kind of obvious.

Ninja'd edit: The mesh is indeed fishing net. I really like the idea of barnacles, though, and might have to work that in the next time I draw this mysterious guardian of the near-shore.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. :)

Day 23: "Rip"

Rip and pull, until it is on.

I kind of rushed the lineart on this one. There's just too much detail on the Doom Slayer's armor! My goal when I started this was to do some comic-style shading, but, well, it's late again.

The original sketch was a lot more violent. I wasn't sure about it, but was on the phone with my brother at the time and we came up with a goofy idea instead.

I'ts the thing! From the BBB! Sorry alien monkey buddy, I forgot your name.

Also liking Dark Shovel Dude, it's cool when you go for extreme perspectives.

Sir Knightbot
It's Sonic! He probably doesn't mind that you forgot. I just finished Blood Blockade Battlefront (&Beyond) a couple of days ago, and am sad that there is not more. Might have to pick up the manga.

Here's day 26: "Hide"

AzBtjha.jpg

(I have not played this game)

I once again waited a bit too late to start last night and was rush-inking it at 1 AM. Not super happy with how her hands turned out because of it. Inconsistently applied line weight, etc. They looked good in the sketch, but I didn't define my lines very well before inking, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
