Information wants to be Free, just like these games

Yeah, every game that looks slightly interesting gets added to the library. Can't hurt.
I have now three pages of games, and not paid a single cent on Epic.

Yep, same. I don't have Epic installed on anything. Now my question is if Epic will still be around whenever I retire and actually have time to play these.

I mean, the launcher is also the launcher for The Thing You Make Games With, so, that should give it some legs?

I've added nearly every free game they've had. My library shows 342 games, of which I've only paid for one, Axiom Verge 2.

Fallout New Vegas - Ultimate Edition is free on Epic. I guess everyone who wants it has it by now, it's super cheap during sales. But if not, now's your chance.

This was donation-ware on Itch.io, but was turned into no-nation-ware thanks to the machinations of Tetris Holdings. I slipped the guy who made it a fiver anyway, because this is a really, really good take on Tetris, and worth installing on anything that will play it. The Game Boy Advance with a flash cart, the PSP, the Vita, the 3DS (which can run it natively!), the cheapie SF2000 handheld, your PC, your Android phone, whatever! Lots of different modes and a simple but sleek art style makes this colossally superior to T*HQ's dull Tetris Worlds, and better than Success's Japanese-exclusive Tetris.

With the announcement of a new corrupted version of Marathon, I thought it was a good time to remind everyone that years ago Bungie released the source code for the original games and they've been rebuilt for a number OSes.

And you can get them all over at Aleph One!

Guacamelee! 1 and 2 are free on Epic. I found them both very enjoyable, great artstyle, fun battle system.

Epic has theHunter: Call of the Wild for free. Yes, this is about shooting real-looking animals, but it also looks like an open-world game, that's just imitating Australia. I assume you can treat it like a walking simulator, and just explore the lands, which seems really relaxing. And see Australian animals.

As long as I'm not pushed to shoot something, this seems like a nice, relaxing game.

Feels like it's not as reactive as you might want.
That looks cool, thanks! I do like the look of this, but I think I want something to be much more photography focused while this seems to have a lot of wandering the map and puzzles/building. Definitely going on my wishlist though.

I did play Beasts of Maravilla Island and while the general idea was neat and more of what I'm looking for the gameplay/performance just didn't work. Still it's a genre I want to see more of for sure.

Right now I'm happily obsessing about the compendium in Zelda TotK and filling it out.

Just checking out the game on GamePass, I think you can do as you please. There's a tutorial for animal shooting, but it looks to be optional.

And you do have a camera.

Epic has Murder by Numbers for free. Looks like an Ace Attorney type game (solving cases in a Visual Novel style) + Picross puzzles along the way.

I thought it was good, but never finished it. The nonogram stuff wasn't up to Jupiter's levels (creator of the Picross series) but nothing is. I do remember seeing TT people giving the side-eye at some of the LGBTQ+ representation when it first came out, but I don't remember the specific concerns. It was nominated as best LGBTQ+ Indie game from Gayming Magazine, but I don't know if that held any weight.

The problem with Murder By Numbers is that the connection between the visual novel and the puzzles is antisynergistic. The only influence of the story on the puzzles is that the finished puzzles depict objects in the environment, and the only thing the puzzles do to the story is put it on pause while you fill in some blocks. I wanted to like it, but it's divided against itself.

Cats Hidden in Paris is a free game on Steam (thanks for the correction, Kirin). There is one screen with hundred cats to find. They mew, when you click on them. Everything is black/white, and you are done in 15 minutes, or so. Every cat gives you a new achievement. I thik there was no music or sound, aside from the mews, when you click a cat.

If you want to kill a few minutes with something cute and relaxing, try this.

I think you meant “on Steam“ there rather than “on screen” (I was wondering if it was just a browser game or something and looked it up).

Homeworld Remastered is free on Epic right now. I've not played through the remastered version but the original is one of the most beautiful looking and sounding games I have ever played.

Well worth picking up now and getting into when you have a lull in your backlog. Or if you just want to look at incredible space vistas.
