So, I'm playing Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit for a review. And I'm conflicted, so I put it before you all here.
The game is very Mega Man-esque. The platforming action is running, jumping, shooting in one direction, and yes, even sliding. You can even get a power-up that grants you a charge shot, and the stage select is even based on Mega Man. See for yourself:
However, the bosses themselves? Not so much, so far. F-14 Tomcat is a side-scrolling shooter, while the Festerdrome is -- as you might have guessed -- a cross between Uncle Fester and the Technodrome battle from the first TMNT NES game.
So, yeah. At first I was like "Oh boy, I can add more to the tally!" But then I realized that the bosses themselves aren't very Robot Master-like, so... I guess not.
(For those interested, I've beaten The Devil, Speziman, F-14 Tomcat, and Festerdrome so far.)
