through "CAPCOM Town", which is a promotional site the company originally created in 2023 to celebrate it's 40th birthday. running on a modified version of the Ares emulator. playable for this month only apparently.
the only other time it's gotten re-released is on the bizarre Capcom Retro Station handheld that came out in 2021.
the game itself is rather bizarre & likely rushed, most notoriously the fact the single player modes lack an ending, despite credits existing in the game's data.
- a post from Capcom's official western blog unexpectedly acknowledging this and linking to TCRF.Anyway, one of the strangest things I remember is that when you finished the game, you were immediately taken to the title screen. No credits or anything. Protodude's Rockman Corner has written a fantastic article based off of the work done by website The Cutting Room Floor that talks about a hidden credits screen, as well as pulled multiplayer support and Dr. Wily as a playable character.
there is a method to play the credits in-game, but it's impossible to access because it requires one player to play as Dr. Wily. who can't be unlocked.
and the reason why Wily can't be unlocked is because even if you loaded the full dummied out ending (which is only normally accessible in a prototype of the game that got dumped in 2024) the flag for it is never enabled.
