in one of it's rare re-releases, Mega Man Soccer is currently officially free to play in your web browser.

through "CAPCOM Town", which is a promotional site the company originally created in 2023 to celebrate it's 40th birthday. running on a modified version of the Ares emulator. playable for this month only apparently.

the only other time it's gotten re-released is on the bizarre Capcom Retro Station handheld that came out in 2021.

the game itself is rather bizarre & likely rushed, most notoriously the fact the single player modes lack an ending, despite credits existing in the game's data.
Anyway, one of the strangest things I remember is that when you finished the game, you were immediately taken to the title screen. No credits or anything. Protodude's Rockman Corner has written a fantastic article based off of the work done by website The Cutting Room Floor that talks about a hidden credits screen, as well as pulled multiplayer support and Dr. Wily as a playable character.
- a post from Capcom's official western blog unexpectedly acknowledging this and linking to TCRF.

there is a method to play the credits in-game, but it's impossible to access because it requires one player to play as Dr. Wily. who can't be unlocked.

and the reason why Wily can't be unlocked is because even if you loaded the full dummied out ending (which is only normally accessible in a prototype of the game that got dumped in 2024) the flag for it is never enabled.

Unless, of course, you live in Canada (and who knows how many other regions).

Particularly galling, more than usual, on account of the fact Capcom Town was accessible and usable by Canadians, but then they just decided "no more" one day.

Really annoying.

On the bright side, at least we're not missing much here.

Genuinely cool to see it rereleased (even if it’s in a very limited form), would be nice if we got a successor to Mega Man Soccer as someone who thinks that it’s a cool concept but kind of undercooked.

I was so hoping Next Level would before they were bought by Nintendo.

That genuinely would have been really cool! Even moreso considering how many robot masters (and other megaman characters across series) they could put into a MM Soccer game now, imagine a Tron Bonne team that’s primarily just servbots, or custom player made teams altogether mixing characters across series together. Could be really cool.
