I Refuse to Believe Menswear was an Actual Band that Existed!

Now I’m a Yankee millennial, and as such have no direct connection to the Britpop phenomenon of the mid 90s and was actually going on in the UK music scene at the time, despite being a fan of the genre after the fact. That said, I just found out about Menswear, and this has be some sort of ARG or something, because there is no way this a real band.

I mean look at this:

This is like someone fed music and images of all the popular Britpop bands of the generation into a sophisticated AI and asked it to generate more. Various pictures of the band show he frontman aping the frontman of every other Britpop band, even ones that didn’t make it big until after his band allegedly blew up and burnt out. The even apparently had a second album that only released in Japan. Seriously, they were “big in Japan”? Could you be more cliched with this fake story?

Okay Brits, fess up! What’s your game with trying to gaslight me that this was a thing that actually happened?

The band name for some reason reminds me of this:

"What's your band called?"

"Oh, we're uh..." *glances behind him* "We're called Menswear."

I confirm that they are a real thing that happened. I don't have any of their albums though, so I couldn't prove it.
