Legend Mode / Free Mode - Hard Mode Skulltulas 23, 24, & 25

Back into the Skulltula grind so we can hit those last three to hit our goal of 90. And we're using Cia's storyline to finish them off. And learning the lesson that sometimes you can't move too fast or goals won't click. So let's take a look at today's stages.

The Usurper King
Requires: Wizzro
Hint: Defeat ??? and ??? while Volga remains alive.

The goal requires defeating Argorok and Agitha when they appear. In theory you're meant to be locked in the upper half of the map while Volga is attacked, but with multiple characters you can have someone in the south, and either way the targets aren't too difficult.

The Demon Lord
Requires: Volga
Hint: Capture and hold ???, except for the ???, within 10 minutes.

You need to capture and keep control of every keep except the Rogue Base. The start of the map has you taking Ghirahim's red keeps, and eventually Ghirahim joins you and Fi becomes hostile, at which point you can capture the yellow keeps to complete the mission.

Darkness Falls
Requires: Cia
Hint: Defeat ??? while ensuring all ??? remain at 60% or more health.

You have to defeat Wizzro while not letting your NPC Dark Links take too much damage. There is a catch that I encountered here: you have to actually have summoned the Dark Links when you defeat Wizzro! If you act too fast, the game won't trigger the flag that summons the Skulltula. (I assume if the NPCs haven't been spawned in yet, the game assumes they have 0% health or something)

With those three down, we hit 90 Skulltulas, so my focus is going to shift back to Lvl. 3 weapons for now. We'll still get Skulltulas in Adventure Mode as we come across them, but I'll hold off on the Hard Mode ones for now.

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Final tier of Weapon Skills unlocked, it's time to focus on the rest of the Level 3 weapons to have something to use those skills with! Of course there was a bit of a delay with the Christmas season and other things, but let's jump back into it.

While my intent was to focus on a close group of weapons in this video, we get a little held up because of a surprise: missing the Bomb Item Card on this map! Between that and needing a Hookshot Item Card to access the corner with Twili Midna's weapon, it becomes less of a weapon focus, grabbing only Ganondorf's Lvl. 3 Trident, though we make up for it with a handful of new costumes based on Majora's Mask, and a few simple quizzes out the way as well. And really, just makes those weapons all the quicker to snag the next time we're on this map.

Adventure Mode - Master Wind Waker Map

Traveling along the south of the map today, with the goal of that shiny Lvl. 3 Rito Harp for Medli. This is another case where we put in the legwork so that next time we're ready to snatch the weapon. Perhaps the downside to the Master Wind Waker map that the weapons are so far apart, but what can you do?

Surprisingly enough: new battle type!

Challenge Battle: Protect the Bombchu!
We've done this concept before but here it's condensed down to a specific task. The Enemy Base is fortified so it can't be captured by anything but multiple Bombchu explosions. So you have to escort the Bombchus and protect them from enemy commanders.

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Heading back to the northeast corner of the map, we have another buffet of Lvl. 3 weapons to chase after. But this time the map has a harsh present for us: the dreaded Don't Get Hit! rule is in place for Zelda's Lvl. 3 Dominion Rod. With this rule, a single hit from an enemy will deal 99% damage and a second will finish us off! This is a lot like the 'All Attacks are Devastating' missions, except that the enemy army is a normal army, not glass cannons, The missions do drop a special Clock item that will slow down enemies within range, but another trick and my prefered method? An Item Power Up potion from the Apothecary lets us use Super Bombs and Light Arrows to mow down hordes and captains from a safe distance. Note the 99% damage I mentioned, though - Some maps have damage thresholds of 149% or 199% before you don't qualify for an A Rank, so you CAN get hit once in those cases, as I show off.

With Zelda's Dominion Rod and Twili Midna's Mirror secured, we turn our attention west. Now, there are some Link weapons we have access to hunt down now, like the Spinner, Horse, and Gauntlets, but I decided to ignore Link for now and go for Ruto's Scale instead, giving us another character who can excel in higher level content!

And with another three weapons in our collection, that's it for today.

Adventure Mode - Koholint Isle Map

Moving back to Koholint today to grab the other Lvl. 3 weapon here: Marin's Lvl. 3 Bell! (We also found Agitha's Lvl 4+ weapon but that'll have to wait). This leads through some simple enough maps, but Marin's weapon stage does have some tanky enemies that take a bit to deal with. Thank goodness our damage cutoff was generous! This was also apparently "All Dragons All The Time" for a bit, and just showed how annoying it can be to get some of the boss drops.

With the Lvl. 3 Bell obtained, a little scouting toward the Lvl. 4 Bell and Lvl. 4 Boots shows that both paths are guarded by Nightmares, we'll need to use two Siren Instruments to get them both but I think that means we'll have to wait for the first one to wear off before we can use the second.

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

So one thing about Master Quest Map having so many weapons, and Link also having so many weapons, is that we're hitting a massive collection of Lvl. 3 Link weapons that we can go grab. We grabbed the Hylian Sword early on, so Link has been low priority for filling out those Lvl. 3s (plus while I didn't point it out, one of Link's weapons was one of those dreaded 'Don't Get Hit' missions. Other characters with multiple weapon types were in a similar position, like Zelda and Impa, but it's time to expand our rosters.

So our goals to grab today are Link's Gauntlets and Spinner, as well as Zelda's final Lvl. 3 weapon, the Baton. But don't think that means we're done with Link after this video, since the likely next batch of missions we'll do in Master Quest Map are Link's Great Fairy and Magic Rod, all to get access to Wizzro's Ring for future boss killing endeavors.

Adventure Mode - Grand Travels Map

Another map with only one remaining Lvl. 3 Weapon, our goal today is Toon Zelda's Phantom Arms, down in the southern area of the sea half of the map. While I was hoping to make some progress toward the Lvl. 4 version for later, we don't quite make it that far, but at least do a little scouting, since one of our two 'goal' squares for the map is also near the Lvl. 4. Once again we have some high damage that puts us in a dangerous position but doesn't rob us of our precious A Ranks!

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Now that we've reached the Death Mountain region of the Master Quest Map, Level 3 weapons are starting to rain down. Yes, most of the remaining weapons on this map are localed on the top two rows of map, and all in a nice little line for us. Today, that leads us to a couple more weapons for Link: the Lvl. 3 Magic Rod and the Lvl. 3 Great Fairy, as well as Wizzro's Lvl. 3 Ring. Interestingly enough, not many secondary items to farm in these stages, since aside from a Ganondorf stage we pass through en route, there aren't any Heart Pieces, Fairy Clothing, Skulltulas, or new Food to collect. Guess that's just how it goes sometimes.

Adventure Mode - Lorule Map

It's actually been longer since we visited the Lorule Map than I thought, since we have both the Lvl. 3 weapons for Ravio and Yuga waiting, and not much progress made toward them yet. So our goal for both maps is in the northwest of the respective 'Hyrule' and 'Lorule' sections of the map, however Yuga's section in Lorule is isolated and requires being accessed by a Wall Painting from the Hyrule section. So we'll focus on Ravio's section in Hyrule for now, while scouting out the locations and items we need to reach the Lorule section.

Doing a pair of Team up and defeat the enemy forces stages makes us aware of the fact that in these stage types both Ravio and Yuga are Summoner types who will summon Giant Bosses.

On route to our goal to unlock the Lvl. 3 Nice Hammer, we also snag a Skull Kid costume as well as another new Fairy Food, the Life Tree Fruit!

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Back to the northern area of Master Quest and the massive line of weapons waiting on the top two rows today! This leads us to the location of Spectacle Rock (no longer the home of LEVEL-9 in the Second Quest) and we manage a triple weapon snag, grabbing Lvl. 3 versions of Sheik's Harp, Tingle's Balloon, and Lana's Deku Spear! (This puts Lana at two of her three weapons). Filling in the gaps and making good progress. Pretty much feel like the goal will be to stick to those two top rows until we clear them out (eventually the 'goal' of the map is to reach the Northwest tile for the Ganon battle to 'complete' the map, but that's not our current mission).

Did a little fiddling with Attack Badges as well, but we're going to need a few specific materials at this point. Ganon's Manes are the big ones we're short on but there are others as well.

Adventure Mode - Master Wind Waker Map

Since we first started working on Lvl. 3 weapons, one we worked for from the start was Medli's Harp. Because of the nature of the Master Wind Waker Map being home to just Medli's weapons, trips to this map don't have the massive influx of new weapons like trips to the Master Quest Map, but still a good detour here and there is nice. Last time we brought ourselves right to the cusp of getting Medli's Lvl. 3 Din's Harp, so today it wasn't a question of getting the weapon, but more how much progress toward the resting place of the Lvl. 4 weapon we'd make afterward.

Aside from dealing with several Cucco based missions, one important map we visit is the location of the 'enemy's divisive plan' map with King Daphnes, a map we can use later to farm Elixir Soup food drops for our fairies.

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Another big day on the north area of the Master Quest Map today, complete with the biggest gain for new weapons in a long time. Just moving into today's video, we have Linkle's Crossbows, Ganondorf's Swords, Midna's Shackles, and Darunia's Hammer! Lana's Book was in the region as well but I made the choice to pursue Darunia's singular weapon instead of the third of 3 Lana weapons. Though we also work our way to the northwest corner where Cia's Staff is close for a future trip. The only downside is missing a Darunia Heart Container because of how defensively we're playing his map, but we'll eventually go back for clean up.

I believe at this point there are six weapons left on the Master Quest map, as well as the lone Yuga Lvl. 3 Painting in Lorule.

Adventure Mode - Lorule Map

Back to Lorule Map on our quest to unlock Yuga's Lvl. 3 weapon today. The location of the weapon is in the northwest section of the Lorule half of the map, but that area can only be reached by a Wall Painting from the Hyrule side... and to reach the area we can do that in, we need the Hookshot item card. Honestly Lorule map progression can be fun that way since it does feel like a puzzle sometimes.

What is amusing is that while working toward grabbing that Hookshot, we find a different area to Wall Painting, that leads us toward Yuga's Lvl 4 weapon! And the path the Hookshot is on also leads toward Ravio's Lvl 4. That said, we do accomplish the goal of getting the Hootshot and unlocking the location for the Wall Painting. So close!

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

At this point we've got most regions of the Master Quest Map open, and easy access to 4 of the 6 remaining Lvl. 3 weapons on the map: Cia's Staff, Lana's Book, Impa's Naginata, and Link's Horse. I started this video thinking we'd have good chances at getting three of them, but once I see that the only mission blocking Link's Horse is an easy 'Defeat 500 enemies' map, it makes it easy to move for the 4th weapon in one go! With two weapons left on Master Quest Map and one Lvl 3. left on Lorule, we're making good progress!

Looking ahead, the remaining weapons, Ghirahim's Demon Blade and Toon Link's Light Sword, are both located in the graveyard area, so a little traveling to reach them is required. On the nature of other unlocks, we've found all the varieties of Fairy Food that the Master Quest Map holds.

Adventure Mode - Lorule Map

Our prep for the next Fissure to cross from Hyrule to Lorule is finished, so we start out with the lone stage containing the fissure before crossing to the Lorule half of the map. Once we cross over, we have a couple missions en route to Yuga's Lvl. Picture Frame, including another mission where we use Bombcus to fight Giant Bosses (and which I mess up the order on, leaving me to deal with The Imprisoned at full health instead of doing the mechanic proberly.

With the Picture Frame in hand, a quick visit to the Ravio divisive battle before we call it a day in Lorule.

Adventure Mode - Master Quest Map

Our goal today is to head into the Graveyard to track down Ghirahim and Toon Link's weapons, the last Lvl. 3 weapons of the entire game for us to unlock. Notably Ghirahim's weapon is located in the location of Second Quest LEVEL-6, while Toon Link is located on the screen that contains the Magical Sword in the First Quest.

We also get to see a devious example of Deku Babas in a level where we can't use items, making them an obstacle to be avoided and tiptoed around. The most devious way to punish a reliance on item attacks in 'All attacks are devastating' maps.

So now that we have all the Level 3 weapons, what does this mean? There's actually a reward linked to the Master Sword. Back when we unlocked the Master Sword in Legend Mode, it came with a built in Attack Power of 300, a massive upgrade over the 120 max attack of Lvl. 1 weapons or 225 of Lvl. 2. But as the Lvl. 3 weapons start getting stronger possibilities, let's take another look at the Master Sword.

1jCwSGD.png

The Master Sword has two Weapon Skills built-in, but both start out locked, and sealed. With all the Lvl. 3 weapons unlocked, the first seal is lifted, giving us a skill that requires 10,000 KOs to unlock, but that sealed skill is the unique 'Evil's Bane' which raises that 300 Attack to 500 Attack! As impressive as that is, eventually we'll unseal that other skill and go even further.

Soon we start the push into Twilight and Termina Maps for Lvl. 4 weapons, but I have one other thing in mind to do beforehard, so who knows what shenanigans I'm getting up to next time?

Adventure Mode - Adventure Map

You're not reading that wrong. Today we're making a trip back to the Adventure Map, to clean up some odds and ends there while we work on the 10,000 KO's needed on the Master Sword to unlock Evil's Bane. Since there is a few Link-centric missions today, working on the Master Sword seemed like a good use of time.

So first up, during our previous trips to the Adventure Map, we unlocked every fairy food on the map except for one: The Odd Mushroom. (Aside from Adventure Map, it can be found in Koholint but we haven't found one there yet either). So a quick mission to unlock that and that means we have every single Fairy Food that can be found in the Adventure, Great Sea, and Master Quest Maps.

The other goal I'm working on today is to clean up the remaining Costume drops in Adventure Map. These are all Link costumes so I didn't make them a priority before, but today we grab three costumes: the Goron Tunic, Zora Tunic, and the Knight of Skyloft Tunic. The first two, Goron and Zora, are recolors of Link's default Hyrule Warriors look that are Red and Blue (these are HW recolors and not Ocarina of Time models like their names might imply). In the original Wii U release, these were instead found in the Rewards map. As for the Knight of Skyloft, this is a model of Link's Skyward Sword outfit! This was DLC for the Wii U release.

Lots of work made toward Evil's Bane, even with no unlock, but having both every Weapon and every Costume on the Adventure Map gets us a nice shiny COMPLETE marker on that specific view of the Adventure Map. Once again, who knows what shenanigans will come next.

Adventure Mode - Master Wind Waker Map

I thought I'd start the Level 4 weapon unlocks in a different way from how you might expect, so today we're headed to the Master Wind Waker Map, home of Medli's Level 4 Rito Harp. We previously made some progress along the map when we unlocked the Lvl. 3 version, so the actual battle with the weapon isn't far, though we do have to detour to unlock a Hammer item card. Well, can't make it all simple. This leads us to a few different boss fights with Argorok while dealing with different objectives, but eventually we do grab the Lvl. 4 Din's Harp+.

Because in the Wii U version weapons only had 3 tiers, the Lvl. 4 weapons added to the 3DS and Switch versions don't get new models or designs. Instead, they take the Lvl. 3 version and give it a gold background and add a + to the name. Like Magical Sword+ or Din's Harp+. These versions of the weapons do have a higher attack ranger, going from 500 up to a max of 750, but they don't have a unique look of their own. This seems simple enough until we start farming the Lvl 4+ weapons, a seperate group of unlocks with unique names AND unique colors, but the 4+ weapons don't have + in the name and the normal 4 weapons DO have + in the name. It's a little silly and I saw some confusion about this back on GameFAQs back in the day.

Would you believe... new battle types?
Adventure Battle - Defeat the Wizard Forces!
This is one of the battles that requires you to escort Zant to capture a Keep and summon a Magic Circle to strike down a Keep protected by powerful units.
Adventutr Battle - Fight alongside the women of the battlefield!
Medli's weapon battle involves a map where you face off against Impa, Lana, Cia, and Zelda. Not quite 'alongside' like I would have guessed, but also all of them expect Impa battle using Zelda's Rapier!

Adventure Mode - Koholint Isle Map

Continuing on the Level 4 Weapon quest, focusing on more of the Hero difficulty DLC maps. Koholint has both Marin's Bell and Linkle's Boots, and last time we headed to this map we worked our way right to the fork leading to both weapons... each blocked by a Nightmare! Meaning we have to use two different Instruments to chase away the Nightmares to proceed. Luckily, the mission with Linkle's Boots also rewards an instrument, and unknown to me before, you can use a second instrument while the Siren power of a previous one is still in effect. So this means, we can move right from Linkle's Boots to Marin's Bell with no delay! Which also means a task I thought would take two sessions only took one video to grab both weapons!

Aside from grabbing both Level 4 weapons, we also get two new Fairy Food types: the Scent Seeds and the Hot Spring Water.

New Battle type!
Adventure Battle: It's Wind Waker vs. Wind Waker!
A battle with both red and yellow armies, so you'd think both armies are Wind Waker... but no, the yellow army is more generic captains, while between our army and the red army we have all the Wind Waker characters covered, and Linkle and Zelda are also involved.

With Koholint's Lvl. 4 weapons snagged easier than expected, we'll be moving somewhere else next time. I expect to take some of more badges in the next video too.

Adventure Mode - Grand Travels Map

So like Koholint, Grand Travels also has two Lvl. 4 weapons for the taking. Though unlike Koholint we don't have both locations primed and ready to swoop in. So our focus today is on Toon Zelda's Phantom Arms, located on the eastern sea half of the map. But first some badges to be sure that Toon Zelda can finally have 3 Special Attack bars like the rest of the cast. Amusingly enough, you don't actually have to play as Toon Zelda on her Lvl. 4 weapon stage (though I did so anyway). Sadly Toon Link's Sand Wand is a little out of reach for today's video.

Aside from the weapon, we snag a pink costume for Tingle, and get two new Fairy Foods: the Ordon Catfish and the Hylian Loach!

Adventure Mode - Lorule Map

Another trip into one of the DLC maps to hunt down Lvl. 4 Weapons, today's trip leads to the Lorule half of the Lorule Map to grab Yuga's Lvl. 4 Demon King's Frame +, which we got close to while tracking down his Lvl. 3. We also head toward Ravio's Lvl. 4 afterward. The game might be expecting us to be loaded down with more Lvl. 4 weapons as some enemies are getting a bit tanky, and some missions are requiring me to ignore extra captains and just focus on the mission objectives. A hard habit to break sometimes when I want all the drops! Still a handful of A Ranks, and we even get another new Fairy Food: the Rock Sirloin!
