Help me choose a spoopy movie a day for October

What should I watch tomorrow?

The Brood – I’ve seen it before but I always love Cronenberg. Not my favourite (he was clearly… feeling a way about women during his divorce) but still creepy.

Club Dread – I’ve never seen any Broken Lizard thing. I guess I always avoided it because I assumed it was very… frat-humour. Not bad, per se but aimed more a comedy sensibility that isn’t me. But I’ve never actually seen it so I could be way off.

Hereditary – Great movie. Seen it before. I will say, it’s probably the movie of these I’ve seen most recently.

Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity – This seems more like sci-fi shlock than horror shlock but that’s where Prime put it.

Hell House LLC – I think this came up last year but still have no idea what it’s about.

Van Helsing – You can always choose this to hurt me.

I've seen Beerfest, The Slammin' Salmon and Tacoma FD by them but not this movie. Your assumption is pretty much spot on.

Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity – This seems more like sci-fi shlock than horror shlock but that’s where Prime put it.
With a name like that I had my suspicions that it could be a rather ... horny movie. And I see that Wikipedia calls it a sexploitation movie so my instincts were correct.

Van Helsing – You can always choose this to hurt me.
Would Stan Helsing hurt more or less?

Teaspoon

Hell House LLC – entirely because I wanna know what the LLC is about. is this actually a horror about the finer points of legal shenanigans?

My choices for tomorrow night.

Carnival of Souls – This one popped up again. IS IT A SIGN!?
Dark Water – It’s the Ring, but not as good.
Talk To Me – I hear this one is pretty great.
The Slumber Party Massacre – The drill is like his penis.
I Am Not a Serial Killer – Sounds like something a serial killer would say…
Gothic – I got to admit, outside of Altered States, I don’t think I’ve seen any Ken Russell

These are all strange to me, but I Am Not a Serial Killer sounds like it has a lot of comedic mistaken identity potential

Octopus Prime

Mystery Contraption

Slumber Party Massacre is greatly outmoded by its sequels,

Talk to Me would have been a great 10 minute short, but nope, full length

The Cars That Ate Paris – I’ve seen this movie before and really enjoyed it but I don’t really think of it as horror or even horror-themed so much as black-humoured satire.

Deep Rising – This seems like it could be a fun romp.

Sinister – Most of the adjective horror movies run together for me. Is this one good?

The Lawnmower Man – This is what we thought the future would look like.

Kids Vs. Aliens – Oh, the director of Hobo with a Shotgun did this.

6 Souls – I’ve never heard of it but Julianne Moore is in it. Whatever happened to her. Is it, like, bad? She is in 6 Souls after all.

Which movie should I watch tomorrow?

Christine – I feel like this is one of John Carpenter’s less talked about 80s movies. But I did see it a while back and it was pretty decent.
Devil’s Due – I suspect this is bad but for a Rosemary’s Baby rip off, this is a good cheeky title.
Last Night in Soho – Makes a strong man crumble. Seriously, I’m a big Edgar Wright fan so it’s unlike me to sleep on this one so long.
American Psycho – But also shockingly haven’t seen this one yet.
Leap of Faith – It’s literally just William Friedkin talking about the Exorcist, which isn’t even my favourite Friedkin movie. But it IS him talking. Which counts for a lot.
Coraline – I did really like this. Neil Gaiman turning out to be another creep might hurt a rewatch, though.

Tomorrow
Creature from the Black Lagoon – Huh. Ever notice that it’s not “The” Creature from the Black Lagoon. Weird. Anyway, the last of the great Universal Monsters.
Fright Night – But sadly not the original
The Deliverance – Turns out Lee Daniels made a horror movie.
Immaculate – I feel like there’s been a few demon pregnancy movies recently and… I don’t think this is one of the good ones?
Mandrake – A film about a woman who wants to help a killer rehabilitate into society after 20 years and maybe it didn’t take after two children go missing.
Lord of Illusions – Clive Barker noir horror movie with Scott Bakula as a John Constantine or something.

Immaculate is not as good as The First Omen but it's decent. Lord of Illusions is not as good as Hellraiser but it's decent.

What should I watch tomorrow night?

The Cremator – Less conventional horror until the climax and more super dark drama about a very evil dude.

From Hell – Probably not good but there is something pleasurable about making Alan Moore grumpier.

Don’t Breathe – The evil old Daredevil movie.

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark – I saw this and despite that it’s 60% per capita boob jokes and innuendo, it’s weirdly wholesome.

Moon Garden – I suspect this falls more under dark fantasy than conventional horror but it does sound interesting; a child trapped in a dream realm searching for a way out.

The Ninth Gate – All I remember is I remember seeing previews for this one back when it came out.

The Ninth Gate is good but its directed by Polanski and stars Depp. The Ninth Gate really makes book collecting seem cool and sexy.

Maybe go with Elvira.

Tomorrow!

Cronos – Del Toro’s first feature film about an old man who turns into a Dracula.

Grimcutty – I know nothing about this except a really low tomameter score.

Malevolent – This feels like people pretend this movie exists but is some sort of tax front.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space – Ooo, I haven’t seen this one in possibly 20 years.

Nina Forever – I don’t know anything about it except it’s a horror romcom.

Pandorum – I vaguely remember the trailer, a sort of sci-fi horror movie on a space ship. I don’t remember anything else about it.

Klowns is the only one of those that I've seen. From the trailers Cronos looks the most interesting.
