... I guess there's stillthe possibility you could interpret that as this being a thread breaking the news that the board game Guess Who is going to be a new character in Smash Bros, But I mean the other way around. Like, let's play that board game using the character roster of Smash Bros. as the pool of characters we are guessing from.
Rules!
Before you post anything in this thread, look at a currently up to date roster of playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (which is weirdly hard to find online, best I can manage is this, which is missing a Fire Emblem and a girl with literal noodle arms) and pick one character you're thinking of:
When you post here, pick anyone who has posted in this thread previously, and ask them a yes/no question about their character, hoping, eventually, by process of elimination, to pin those down. And like, feel free to interrogate a dozen different players at once. I'm trying to set this up all asynchrously because we all have weird schedules and why bog things down?
When you get around to it, check back on this thread, and answer any questions you have been asked to the honest best of your ability, as clearly as possible.
If your character has been right properly pegged, say so and pick a new one for future posts.
Now, nothing being black and white, there are going to be questions that can't really be given a clear black and white answer, so some extra rules for grey areas:
When you are asking a question, you can specify where you feel edge cases lie, and the person answering is honorbound to follow that. For instance, I could ask, "does your character where a red hat? Assuming default palettes, and considering Samus' helmet to be a hat."
Additionally, if you genuinely don't know the answer to a question, or feel there is room for interpretation, you can and should answer while also giving a clarifying note on which characters you think personally fit under that umbrella. For instance, if asked the question
Then contrary to the advice given by Winston, it would be recommended that you respond with something like, "No... but to be clear, the characters I'd say qualify as gods would be Palutina, Kirby, Rosalina, and Bayonetta."
Past that, there are still some grey areas. I mean, even the basic starting question almost everyone goes with in Guess Who? "Is your character male?" is surprisingly hard to answer for what like, a quarter of the roster? In such cases, you can, and are actively encouraged to reply with "Sometimes," barring some clarification from a question-asker.
Then we have the real edge case, where other characters are hiding in the same character selection. The rule is, if they have a unique name when selected, they are a unique character. If the name remains the same, they are not. So you can select Wendy Koopa, and answer no to whether she is male, but if you select Hero, we're simultaneously talking about every hero.
Everything is all asynchronous so don't worry about like minimum guesses to get a thing or timeliness or whatever. The real fun is just in working out weird questions to ask that really make you think, and enjoying how asking "Is your character named Roy?" potentially eliminates 2 or all but 2 possibilities.
Oh and to keep things extra smooth, try to keep a list of every question you've answered in your posts.
P.S. If anyone can find and link it, BEAT's ranking chart of each character's relationship with alcohol is absolutely considered to be canon.
P.P.S. I just realized I didn't explicitly state it in the rules but it goes without saying that any variation of Mii fighter beyond their default forms as shown on the character select are considered Dirty Pool, and not to be brought into things, yes?
