Guess Who's in Smash Bros! (Like, the board game, Guess Who, so we're clear here.)

Purple

(She/Her)
... I guess there's stillthe possibility you could interpret that as this being a thread breaking the news that the board game Guess Who is going to be a new character in Smash Bros, But I mean the other way around. Like, let's play that board game using the character roster of Smash Bros. as the pool of characters we are guessing from.

Rules!

Before you post anything in this thread, look at a currently up to date roster of playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (which is weirdly hard to find online, best I can manage is this, which is missing a Fire Emblem and a girl with literal noodle arms) and pick one character you're thinking of:
SSBU_Character_Select_DLC.jpeg

When you post here, pick anyone who has posted in this thread previously, and ask them a yes/no question about their character, hoping, eventually, by process of elimination, to pin those down. And like, feel free to interrogate a dozen different players at once. I'm trying to set this up all asynchrously because we all have weird schedules and why bog things down?

When you get around to it, check back on this thread, and answer any questions you have been asked to the honest best of your ability, as clearly as possible.

If your character has been right properly pegged, say so and pick a new one for future posts.

Now, nothing being black and white, there are going to be questions that can't really be given a clear black and white answer, so some extra rules for grey areas:

When you are asking a question, you can specify where you feel edge cases lie, and the person answering is honorbound to follow that. For instance, I could ask, "does your character where a red hat? Assuming default palettes, and considering Samus' helmet to be a hat."

Additionally, if you genuinely don't know the answer to a question, or feel there is room for interpretation, you can and should answer while also giving a clarifying note on which characters you think personally fit under that umbrella. For instance, if asked the question

Then contrary to the advice given by Winston, it would be recommended that you respond with something like, "No... but to be clear, the characters I'd say qualify as gods would be Palutina, Kirby, Rosalina, and Bayonetta."

Past that, there are still some grey areas. I mean, even the basic starting question almost everyone goes with in Guess Who? "Is your character male?" is surprisingly hard to answer for what like, a quarter of the roster? In such cases, you can, and are actively encouraged to reply with "Sometimes," barring some clarification from a question-asker.

Then we have the real edge case, where other characters are hiding in the same character selection. The rule is, if they have a unique name when selected, they are a unique character. If the name remains the same, they are not. So you can select Wendy Koopa, and answer no to whether she is male, but if you select Hero, we're simultaneously talking about every hero.

Everything is all asynchronous so don't worry about like minimum guesses to get a thing or timeliness or whatever. The real fun is just in working out weird questions to ask that really make you think, and enjoying how asking "Is your character named Roy?" potentially eliminates 2 or all but 2 possibilities.

Oh and to keep things extra smooth, try to keep a list of every question you've answered in your posts.

P.S. If anyone can find and link it, BEAT's ranking chart of each character's relationship with alcohol is absolutely considered to be canon.

P.P.S. I just realized I didn't explicitly state it in the rules but it goes without saying that any variation of Mii fighter beyond their default forms as shown on the character select are considered Dirty Pool, and not to be brought into things, yes?

Purple, do your eyes have whites?

Edit: please answer no for characters lacking eyes and yes for Samus because we know what she looks like under the helmet. For Wii Fit Trainer, please run screaming out of the thread

No, I can blend in at a human convention.

No one is facing straight at the camera except maybe Dedede. Tell me, are you facing more to the left than to the right?

Purple

(She/Her)
No, eyes do not have whites
and
No, not looking to the left.

Are you from a Fire Emblem game?

I am not inhuman and not a Fire Emblem.

This is awkward, but are you by any chance naked? DK wears a tie but is naked for our purposes.

Yes, I am mostly if not entirely naked. Which is perfectly natural and nothing to be ashamed of!

Oo, can I join? I just pick one of ya at a time, right?

Purple, do you have a weapon?

Respectively here-
No, you can totally ask questions of everyone in the thread at once:
And like, feel free to interrogate a dozen different players at once. I'm trying to set this up all asynchrously because we all have weird schedules and why bog things down?

And... using the arbitrary standard here that "having a weapon" means its in/on a character's hand/foot at all times so not counting things like Peach's golf club or Diddy's gun then...

No, I don't have a weapon.

Also yes naked, no having whites of eyes, no facing left.

Now then...

Mogri- Are you wearing some sort of suit of groovy power armor?

Spoony- Are you, with your default color scheme at least, blond(e)/decidedly yellow of skin? (For clarity, Fox is brown, and Captain Falcon we'll assume is like, naturally hairless.

No power suit for me! I'm not inhuman or emblematic, either.

Purple: Oh, yikes. Please tell me you're at least covered in fur.

Spoony: Bachelor #1 asks, "Are you single?" Hmm, I think he's wondering if you're alone or if you're sitting next to someone else from the same series.

Nope, I'm certainly not blonde, and I'm also all alone.

Purple: I think I might know who you are, but just to see if I'm on the right track: Are you known for having an appetite?

Mogri: Are your ears, assuming you have them, pointy?

What, you think I'm some kinda Spock-elf? Nah. No power suit, inhuman, or emblem for me, either.

Spoony: You poor thing! Please tell me there's someone out there for you -- someone else from your series somewhere on the board.

Nope, I am maskless. And yes, there are other(s) from my series on the board, just not right next to me. And also, not blonde.

Turtle: Assuming the rules of physiology would be similar to the real world, are you warm or cold-blooded?

Mogri: Do you sport any facial hair?

I am clean-shaven, with normal ears, no power suit, no emblem of the fiery persuasion, and I am not inhuman.

Spoony: Did you appear in the first game in your series, or are you one of those johnny-come-latelies riding on the popularity of your elders?

I'm warm blooded, yes.

Spoony: Are you clearly male? As in, no room for interpretation or doubt?
Mogri: Same question.

Yes, nobody would doubt my maleness, nor my lack of beard, pointy ears, power suit, inhuman features, or fiery emblems.

Turtle: I think you can tell a lot about a person from his hands. Can I see yours, or are they obscured (e.g. by gloves, Mega Buster, or failure to exist)?

If by series you mean a long-running franchise with at least one permutation that nevertheless carries a similar (but not identical) title then no, I was not in the first one. Also am totally male, little doubt. Along with not being near any other character(s) from my series on the character board, maskless, and not blonde.

Turtle: Is your world populated by monsters that you can train to fight for you?

Mogri: If you were a resident of the US of A, would you be able to grab a drink after work?

Are you asking me out? Then I'm glad to say I'm of legal age to accept (in addition to being male and lacking beard, pointy ears, power suit, inhuman features, and emblems of fire).

But I have a question about the dress code. You see, I strongly suspect that you're wearing an article of clothing (e.g. necktie, gloves, cap) while still in a state of undress that would be considered improper for most venues. Is that correct?

Turtle: are you more or less human? (As with purple's initial query, Hylians count, robots and sea creatures do not.)

In order, those answers are yes, no, and yes.

To all three of you: Do you typically fight with a sword?

That would be correct as far as Smash representation goes.

To all three of you: Do you typically fight with a sword?

Oh absolutely not.

So I'm not-exactly-nude, swordless, male, maskless, not blonde, and not near any other character(s) from my series on the board.

So for all of ya, would you feel more at home magic castles, futuristic spaceships, or city streets?

(Typical Guess Who rules restrict questions to yes/no, by the way)

Streets for me, thanks, and no swords. No beard, pointy ears, power suit, inhuman features, nor emblems of fire, either, and yes, I'm male.

Spoony, do you have headwear of some sort?

Kirin, our next question comes from a "J. McCarthy." He asks if the color red is visible on your portrait. Pink and magenta are not red, of course.

Ah, my apologies.

Yes indeed I have some headwear, on top of being not-exactly-nude, swordless, male, maskless, not blonde, and not near any other character(s) from my series on the board.

So Mogri, are there any echo fighters among the characters in your series? Including yourself in that count.

Affirmative. We are not Fire Emblem, but we are echoes. Also, streets, male, no swords, beard, pointy ears, power suit, nor inhuman features.

You wouldn't be Diddy, would you? I don't date chimps, not after last time.

I am certainly not Diddy, though I have headwear, on top of being not-exactly-nude, swordless, male, maskless, not blonde, and not near any other character(s) from my series on the board.

But Mogri, I have to ask, are you Ken?

Turtle: Would you be seen as a lady-type?

Kirin: Do you have any typical facial features missing or obscured? (Eyes, nose, mouth)

Purple

(She/Her)
Purple: Oh, yikes. Please tell me you're at least covered in fur.

No fur to be found!

Purple: I think I might know who you are, but just to see if I'm on the right track: Are you known for having an appetite?

Yes, I have been known to eat.

Past inquiries: No weapon, yes naked, no having whites of eyes, no facing left.

Now, on to questioning...
Mogri- Do you fight with a whip, typically?

Spoony- I'm just going to come right out and ask- Are you King K. Rool?

Turtle- Are you wearing a hat? Not a helmet, not a headband, just asking about hats. The sort with brims.

Kirin- Are you some manner of beast? (Which is to say, furry, scaly, an animal, or a pokemon? I suppose Kirby and Pacman wouldn't count as such, I don't really want to ponder their origins that hard.)
