Did anyone else pick up the DX Switch version of this a few weeks ago? I've had it on my "should replay someday" list for like a year now and then this happened which made it super easy to choose. Plus I needed something to burn away time waiting for Age of Calamity.
I loved Pikmin, and I ... well I liked half of Pikmin 2 - the dungeon crawler aspect just didn't appeal to me. Pikmin 3 is a return to form with many, many improvements to the formula.
I've now played it through roughly twice, plus the new missions added. It was a bit shorter than I remembered, I had thought it much bigger than Pikmin 1, but that's not really the case. It's got maybe one extra area over the first. I'm loving the control improvements and how they adapted to not having the gamepad available. Between that and the new Lock On mechanic I think I'm better at this one than I was at the original. I enjoy that you can play the game very relaxed and casual. The game starts with "oh no you only have 3 days of food" but there's literally 100 days worth of food available in the game to collect. I also enjoy that if you want you can push the game to the limit in terms of effective multi-tasking. I just finished up the minimum possible 10-day all fruit and upgrades run and though I had to restart days 5 and 6 more than I'd care to think about, each one still only took me about an evening's play to get right and was utterly satisfying when I did.
Anyway - anyone else playing? Or played? Or hated? Whatever.
