Once again to celebrate national fried chicken day I have a question for all of you. Whether it's a meal, dinner, combo, platter or basket (or whatever) - when you are getting a menu item with two different pieces of fried chicken that you can choose then what is your go to choice?

And what are some of your favorite side dishes to have with the chicken?

I think I like chicken breast the most of any type. But if it's fried chicken, I want legs and wings because they're the easiest to eat with your hands.

Also mildly disappointed I couldn't vote for 'fingers'

I mean, I'll eat any of it, but given my druthers, I like a thigh and wing.

For sides, either mashed potatoes or wedges and gravy, biscuits, corn, and creamy coleslaw. Mac & cheese is good, too.

Vegetarian chicken substitute.

I'm not even vegetarian, I'm just not particularly fond of chicken, and weirdly I've come across some substitutes that I actually like better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Büge is the best there is at what she does - which is eating drumsticks.

I like breast and leg.

For sides I like mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits and corn (generally off the cob but on is fine as well). Mac and cheese or wedges/fries are also good. I don't love most coleslaw but with my weird approach I can find it enjoyable enough. But it definitely is not my first choice for a side - I usually only get it when there is no other choice.

Also, when creating this I realized that white meat is the top of the bird and the dark meat is the bottom.

All dark meat, all the time. Forget white meat! Bah!

That said I usually just get a couple drumsticks if I'm going piecemeal, like at the grocery store deli.

Oh no now I want chicken, why have you done this to me

Yeah, white meat's gotta have gravy or mayonnaise or cranberry sauce or something to balance out the dryness.

Thighs and drumsticks all the way. The best fried chicken breasts stay juicy, but the ratio of crust to meat is wrong.

A good, buttery biscuit is the best accompaniment to fried chicken. If there's good coleslaw to be had, then that's also nice. (But so much cheap coleslaw is tasteless soup.) Fries are unnecessary; and I love mac and cheese but if I eat it and fried chicken I regret it the next day.

Thigh meat might be tasty, but I greatly disapprove of eating bone-in fried thighs. Mostly on account of how it's easily the part of the chicken you work the hardest at eating.
